Hit and popular songs by 19 (Juke)
Let me introduce songs by 19 (Juke), a male folk duo that disbanded in 2002.
At the time, alongside Yuzu, they brought a folk current to the J-pop scene and are said to be the pioneers of the neo-folk genre.
They also enjoyed huge popularity, appearing twice on the NHK New Year’s Eve Music Festival (Kohaku Uta Gassen) and providing an official cheer song for the Sydney Olympics, but sadly they disbanded.
After the breakup, member Kenji Okahira became well known for his activities with 3B LAB.☆S.
Now, please enjoy the songs of 19, who helped bring folk music back into the spotlight.

19’s famous and popular songs (1–10)
A graduation song, a song of friends.19

The lyrics were also featured in a popular novel, so many of you may have discovered the song there.
With school-themed lyrics, it’s perfect for graduation season, and it’s still often sung at graduation ceremonies.
It’s a song about setting off with tears and smiles.
Congratulations19

A later-period song for 19 with strong punk rock elements.
It’s popular at live shows because Kenji, Keigo, and the audience all come together.
It’s also a birthday song that says, “Thank you for being born, and thank you for living.”
To all19

This song, which is also a lullaby for a newborn, marked their third single.
Many people were moved by the warmth of a mother and the joy of being given life.
At concerts, Kenji sings it with powerful emotion directed at the audience, making it especially moving.

Water, land, and sky—infinitely.19

A track that was chosen as an Olympic theme song and released as a single.
It’s a cheer song for athletes competing on a grand stage, and its lyrics—encouraging them to give their all just as they are—made it popular among people in sports.
It’s also recommended listening before a match.
love19

You might suddenly find yourself remembering a love from your school days.
That’s a valuable life experience too, so you may look back and think, “That happened, didn’t it?” Maybe you weren’t sure when to confess your feelings or how to act around them—some things haven’t changed, then or now.
Beyond that blue19

Released as the first single, the lyrics may bring back nostalgic memories of things you experienced or thought about during adolescence.
It’s also a song that gives a gentle push to those currently struggling with such feelings.
Rather than stopping, living step by step and moving forward—perhaps that’s what truly matters.
Endless road19

When we graduate or move on to a new environment for a career change, many of us have probably experienced being sent off by various people as we embark on a new journey.
Even amid the sadness, there is hope, and lyrics that teach us the joy and necessity of living can support our hearts.
This is a song that gives you a gentle push forward.
