Let’s make ice cream

This is a parent-child competition themed around ice cream, which kids love, called “Let’s Make Ice Cream.” As the title suggests, it’s a contest where you make ice cream.
Once it starts, choose a container for your ice cream.
There are two types—cone and cup—just like a real ice cream shop! Put on your favorite color of ice cream and pick toppings in star or heart shapes.
Finally, stick in a big spoon and you’re done! It’s the kind of event where you’ll get to see adorable moments as children struggle to decide what kind of ice cream to make.
Goldfish Migration Circuit

Finish together as parent and child! Here’s an idea for a Goldfish Migration Circuit.
You’ll need homemade scoops (poi), two kiddie pools, goldfish made from colored plastic bags, and red-and-white flags.
Many children may feel nervous in the unusual atmosphere of a sports day, right? Participating in the event together with a parent can help ease those nerves a bit.
This event requires teamwork between parent and child! Let’s successfully move the goldfish while calling out to each other.
The cute costumes are another highlight, too!
Hide-and-seek at the sports day?

Parents and children will both get excited! Here are some ideas for playing hide-and-seek at a sports day.
Hide-and-seek is usually a game played during everyday playtime, right? This time, let’s try it at a sports day.
It’s especially recommended for preschools and kindergartens where children wear the same hats and gym clothes for the event.
After hide-and-seek, setting up a corner where parents and children can deepen their bonds through dance or interactive play will make things even more lively.
Give it a try!
My First Errand

A parent-child activity where guardians ask their children to run an errand to buy requested items.
Instead of going out to a real store, set up a shop area inside the daycare or kindergarten.
Prepare pretend food and daily necessities in advance, then give the children medals and shopping bags and ask them to do the errand.
Many caregivers will likely feel a sense of growth seeing the children complete the shopping on their own.
You can also divide them into groups or set a theme and have them buy specific ingredients.
It’s an event that provides a realistic shopping experience while also being educational.
Ice Cream Relay

This is a game played in pairs, but for two-year-olds we recommend adapting it as a parent-child activity.
Stand at the start line holding a cone, and when the signal is given, run to the ice cream station.
Place the ice cream on the cone, circle around the flag, then return the ice cream to its original spot and go back to the start line.
The cone acts as a baton, so pass it to the next pair.
Be sure to support the ice cream carefully so it doesn’t fall off the cone as you go.
Hey! Welcome!

Sushi lets you enjoy delicious fish like egg, tuna, shrimp, and salmon, but this event is a fun parent‑child game where you can feel like you’ve become a sushi chef.
The guardian wears a hat that serves as the baton.
When the start signal goes off, the two of you run to the spot where the sushi toppings are! Choose your favorite topping, and the child wears it on their back.
The guardian picks up the child and moves to the tunnel with a drawing of an open mouth.
Once the child crawls through the tunnel, they leave the topping there and return to the starting position.
Picking your favorite topping and the funny experience of ‘jumping into a mouth’ are sure to get the kids excited!

Experience thrills and excitement! Here are some ideas for a child’s first errand.
How about trying a parent-child activity where guardians also take part, and the child tackles their first errand? Many children may feel nervous in a setting different from their usual daycare or kindergarten, but having their guardian with them might give them courage.
Watching them head out to pick up the ingredients requested by their guardian will likely bring both laughter and tears.
It’s sure to be an event where you can feel the child’s growth and the bond between child and guardian.
