A Collection of Classic Vocaloid Masterpieces Released in 2010 [Nostalgic]

Sparked by the 2007 release of the vocal synthesis library “Hatsune Miku,” the Vocaloid scene spread explosively, centered around Niconico Douga.

Some of you might have jumped on the boom back then and devoted your youth to Vocaloid.

I’m one of those people, as you can probably tell from what I’m writing here.

This time, we’re featuring a selection of iconic Vocaloid tracks from 2010!

It’s a lineup that will feel nostalgic and also help you rediscover what makes these songs great.

Of course, works by Vocaloid producers who are still active today are included as well!

Be sure to check it out to the end.

Huh? Ah, I see.Chōchō P

Huh? Ah, right. - 10th Anniversary Edition – / Chouchou-P feat. Hatsune Miku
Huh? Ah, I see.Chōchō P

If you want to listen to a mature-sounding Vocaloid track, this is the one! It’s a signature work by Chouchou-P, a Vocaloid producer who also performs as singer-songwriter Yuu Ichinose.

The band-style arrangement, with waves of piano tones, is stylish and irresistibly cool.

The explosive power of the chorus sweeps you away, and the sexy lyrics make your heart race.

I’ve included a video recommendation as well, and there’s a 10th-anniversary remake released in 2020—if you haven’t heard it yet, definitely give it a listen.

Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya!daniwell

This is a work that sparked a worldwide boom! It’s a signature piece by daniwell, a Vocaloid producer known for an experimental style, released in July 2010.

The lyrics consist solely of “nya,” and the song structure is simple, with just a couple of phrases looping.

And yet, it’s a track you can keep listening to—there’s something mysteriously captivating about it.

Then in 2011, the derivative video “Nyan Cat” was posted on YouTube and went viral on a global scale.

It might just be the most famous Vocaloid song in the world.

Torinoko City40mP

[Hatsune Miku (40mP)] Torinoko City [Original]
Torinoko City40mP

A rhythmic yet heartrending Vocaloid song that projects a swirling sense of loneliness in the heart.

It’s a track by 40mP, who has long been at the forefront of the Vocaloid scene, released in July 2010.

The light guitar phrases and the beautiful tones of the strings that envelop the entire piece are striking.

The pairing of the song’s style with the crisp, articulated singing is a fantastic match.

Yet what seeps through the lyrics’ message is a sense of hardship and emotional pain.

By the way, this song was adapted into a live-action film in 2017, so if you haven’t seen it yet, do give it a watch.

Playful FunctionGojimaji P

An electric dance tune with such a groovy beat that your body can’t help but sway.

Created by Lamaze-P under the name Gojimaji-P, it’s the song that sparked the so‑called “Fukkireta” boom.

You can feel the bubbly excitement, and Kasane Teto’s vocals are just adorable! Because the theme is Kasane Teto herself, everything clicks perfectly.

There are tons of derivative fan-made videos, including entries in the “Fukkireta” series I mentioned earlier, so part of the fun is hunting those down too.

Once you understand the true intention behind the piece, you might find it sounds like a different song.

This track is by Owata-P, also known under the name Garna.

It features a melody with a somewhat foreign, exotic atmosphere and the distinctive, powerful vocals of Rin and Len.

The lyrics, which rattle off the sorrow that fills the heart, are deeply affecting.

Owata-P himself has written on his blog about his creative intent for this song and its predecessor, “Paradichlorobenzene.” After reading it, what feelings will you be left with?

Net Game Addict Sprechchor 2.0.22 patched ver / Hatsune Miku
Online Game Addict Sprechchorsatsuki ga tenkomori

A Vocaloid track born from the internet age, sung over a drum’n’bass beat about the lifestyle of an online gaming addict.

It’s a signature work by Vocaloid producer Satsuki ga Tenkomori, released in October 2010.

A rearranged version was published in 2022 and drew attention.

It’s got a strong “hardcore grinder” vibe—real, in a way—and if you’ve been into PC gaming for a long time, you might find parts of the lyrics particularly relatable.

The White Snow Princessnoboru↑P

White Snow Princess Is – Noboru ↑ feat. Hatsune Miku
The White Snow Princessnoboru↑P

It’s a grand, fast-paced rock number based on the world-famous classic Snow White.

The song was created by Vocaloid producer Noboru↑, also known for Love Surely Soars☆ and Monochrome ∞ Blue Sky, and was released in February 2010.

The dynamic soundscape pairs perfectly with Miku’s solid, focused vocals.

It packs a variety of charms—cuteness, coolness, and drama.

However, when you delve into the lyrics’ implications, there’s also a touch of eeriness.

It’s a Vocaloid track you can enjoy from multiple angles.
