Oita Hello Kitty Airport

During the Osaka-Kansai Expo, Oita Airport will adopt the nickname “Oita Hello Kitty Airport” through a collaboration with Sanrio. This collaboration came about because Harmonyland, Sanrio’s theme park, is located about a 30-minute drive from Oita Airport.

Ōsaka-shi, Kita-ku, Ofukachō

In the 2025 land price survey, the location announced as having the highest land value outside Tokyo was Ofukacho in Kita Ward, Osaka City. This area, known as Umeda 2nd Stage (Umekita), is located very close to Hankyu Umeda Station. With rows of commercial buildings, it is one of the busiest areas in Osaka City.

Department of Dinosaur Studies

Leveraging Fukui Prefecture’s distinctive strength in dinosaur fossil excavations, the University of Fukui Prefecture established the Faculty of Dinosaur Studies in April 2025 to conduct research and education on dinosaurs. Fukui Prefectural University is the first university in Japan to establish such a faculty.

Samurai Time Slipper

Samurai Time Slipper won Best Picture at the 48th Japan Academy Film Prize. It’s a period-comedy in which a samurai retainer from the Aizu domain at the end of the Edo period time-slips to present-day Kyoto and appears as an extra in a jidaigeki (period drama). Among the listed titles, Golden Kamuy received the Creative Contribution Award, and Kingdom: Return of the Great General received a Special Award.

MD

The product announced to be discontinued at the end of February 2025 is the MD. MD stands for MiniDisc, an audio medium released by Sony in 1992. It became a major medium for listening to music during the Heisei era, but due to declining demand, production has been discontinued.

The highest lottery prize ever in March 2025 was 1.2 billion yen. It was the first prize in the Lotto 7 drawing held on March 14, which had been increased from 1 billion yen to 1.2 billion yen in February due to a rollover.
