They’re known for Afrobeat infused with the kind of R&B that was a hit in the US in the 1990s and 2000s, giving their music an old-school vibe.

Among their works, a standout recommendation is “Panya ft.

Korede Bello is a Nigerian singer-songwriter known for Afrobeat that blends Black music such as blues, gospel, and R&B.

When people hear “Afrobeat,” many imagine energetic, uptempo tracks.

His song “Romantic,” however, differs from that image: it’s crafted as a very stylish track that puts R&B front and center.

Recommended for those who want a change-of-pace take on Afrobeat.

NSG is a group gaining popularity in the UK, a country known for its large Afrobeat market.

While they’re considered a British hip-hop group, they also actively release Afrobeat tracks.

It’s a cool track that blends a jazzy vibe with Afrobeat—bright on the surface, yet with a subtle hint of melancholy.

SystemSantan Dave

Dave is a UK artist who excels across multiple fields—rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer.

While his core sound is British hip-hop and conscious rap, he also has a strong affinity for Afrobeat, influenced in part by his Nigerian parents.

Among his works, one of the most popular is System, a collaboration with Wizkid that delivers a very stylish Afrobeat vibe.

Inspired by Soul II Soul’s legendary “Back to Life,” the song masterfully blends rhythmic Afrobeats with elements of Amapiano, making it a captivating anthem for the dance floor.

It has already been making waves worldwide, ranking as high as No.

8 on Iceland’s Apple Music chart.

Released as the lead single from his eighth album, “No Sign of Weakness,” it’s a perfect pick not only for party scenes but also for boosting your mood.

In conclusion

This time, I picked out some classic Afrobeat tracks, and it became clear that from the late 2010s onward, the genre has been heavily influenced by hip-hop.

Slow jam, a genre derived from reggae dancehall and R&B, also seems to reflect hip-hop’s influence strongly these days, much like Afrobeat.

Afrobeat may be a niche genre, but you can still feel the flow of the times through it.
