Popular songs and hidden gems that highlight THE ALFEE’s ensemble

THE ALFEE is a rock band known for signature songs like “Mary Ann” and “Hoshizora no Distance.”

Ken Sakurai, the main vocalist and bassist, is known for his trademark sunglasses.

Konosuke Sakazaki handles acoustic guitar and vocals, and is widely connected with a variety of musicians.

Toshihiko Takamizawa—familiar from variety shows, with his distinctive shaped guitars and refined style—joined to form the band in 1973.

Starting out as a folk band, their music gradually incorporated elements of rock, metal, and prog, forging a unique style of their own.

Their ensemble playing, which reflects the trust they’ve built over a long career, is fantastic.

Popular Songs and Hidden Gems by THE ALFEE Highlighting Their Ensemble (21–30)

Supreme loveTHE ALFEE

THE ALFEE – Supreme Love (40th Anniversary 2014 GENESIS FINAL)
Supreme loveTHE ALFEE

Among the many songs by The Alfee, you could say this is the most romantic, sexy, and melodic.

It’s a top-recommended ballad that’s hugely popular with female fans.

It might be my personal favorite.

Takamizawa delivers a heartfelt and beautiful, passionate performance about a mature love.

PrayerTHE ALFEE

This song also has a really great atmosphere.

Even from the intro, it’s not a bright song—its image feels like the end of the century.

I get a message like, “Something might happen, but steel yourself.” For some reason, I really love this song.

Lovers’ PavementTHE ALFEE

It’s a very melodious love song by The Alfee from the ’80s.

Takamizawa’s heartrending vocals draw you in, body and soul—such a wonderful track.

I feel like it’s especially beloved by many female fans.

I used to long for this kind of grown-up romance.

At the end of a reckless run with no tomorrowTHE ALFEE

The Alfee: At the End of a Reckless Run Without Tomorrow
At the end of a reckless run with no tomorrowTHE ALFEE

This is quite an old song.

I think it was from their acoustic era, before they put out any hit singles.

The lovely acoustic guitar intro is very striking, and it’s one of my favorite songs as well.

The sound of a live acoustic guitar is truly wonderful.

The Iron GiantTHE ALFEE

Steel Giant (THE ALFEE One Night Dream 2012 We Get Requests!)
The Iron GiantTHE ALFEE

A full-on hard rock/heavy metal number bursting with speed, included on their eighth album, THE RENAISSANCE, released in 1984.

It’s often performed live and always sends the crowd into a frenzy.

Bridge of HopeTHE ALFEE

Following “On the Morning When the Bell of Hope Rings,” this song was selected as the theme for the TBS drama Salaryman Kintaro 4.

Released in 2004 as their 52nd single, it’s a colorful track that layers THE ALFEE’s signature melody over powerful drums.

The sun does not set.THE ALFEE

This is the 50th single, which was used as the theme song for the Fuji TV drama “Shomuni FINAL.” The lyrics, which sing about the importance of not succumbing to adversity, bring to mind the strong-willed character of Chinatsu Tsuboi, the drama’s protagonist played by Makiko Esumi.

It’s a track with a powerful, cool guitar riff.
