I’m going to show you a magic trick where a string moves from one finger to another! First, loop the string around your left thumb.
Cross the string into an X, place the right looped part of the string over the left strand, and then pass the string between your index and middle fingers.
When a loop forms on the back of your hand, insert your left index and middle fingers into the loop and pull the string toward you—the string will move to your middle finger.
Repeat the same steps to move the string to other fingers.
With practice you’ll get faster, so give it a try and have fun!
snake

This magic trick imagines a thin, long string for cat’s cradle as a snake.
You loop the string around both wrists, then wrap it once more around one hand in a circle.
Wrap it a second and third time, and when you give both arms a firm pull… the string somehow slips right off! The secret is that although it looks like you’re wrapping it around two or three times, after the first wrap you reverse the direction, so you’re actually unwinding it while making it appear you’re wrapping more.
When performing it for children, try exaggerating by saying, “The snake is wrapping around you!” It’s an easy magic trick that kids can do too.
Piercing through the cup handle

This is a very simple string-figure penetration magic trick! The string caught on the mug handle comes off in an instant.
First, turn the string figure into a single loop and thread it through the mug’s handle.
Insert your index and middle fingers of both hands into the loops at each end and pull the string tight.
Then bring your hands closer together, remove the string from the right index finger and insert it into the left loop.
At the same time, release the string from the right middle finger.
Give the string a quick, strong pull, and it will pop off the mug handle.

The string figure loop slips right off your fingers! Here’s a fun magic trick.
First, put the string figure loop over the index finger and thumb of your left hand.
Next, pinch the string between your index finger and thumb and pull it.
Be sure not to let go of the string you’re holding with your right hand.
Bring the string you’re holding into the space between your index finger and thumb, and touch the tips of your left index finger and thumb together to make a loop.
Hook the string you’re holding over your left index finger and thumb.
Then, when you pull the string out with your right hand—surprise! The string slips off in an instant.
The string attaches and detaches.

It’s a mysterious magic trick where the strings looped over your index fingers and the strings looped over your ring fingers seem to connect and separate on their own when you gently sway them.
The secret is actually in how you hold the strings! If you look from the palm side, you’ll see that both middle fingers also have two strings over them.
Hook one string over the index and middle fingers of both hands, and then, overlapping it, hook the other string over the middle and ring fingers of both hands.
Take your middle fingers out from the two strings in the center once, twist them, swap the top and bottom, and then hook the middle fingers back in.
Now, if you sway the strings and slip one middle finger out, it looks like the two strings have connected; slip the other middle finger out, and it looks like the strings have separated again.
