[2026] A roundup of recommended Christmas songs for bands to cover

Aren’t there actually quite a lot of people who perform live around Christmas time?

If you’re in a high school club or a university circle, there’s probably a Christmas live.

And if it’s an event during the holiday season, you’ll naturally want to perform Christmas songs with your band!

But don’t you feel like the most classic Christmas songs aren’t really “band” tunes?

So in this article, I’ll introduce plenty of Christmas songs that are great for band covers!

I’ll include some classics, but I’ll also feature lots of rock band tracks—both Japanese and Western—so use this as a reference when choosing songs to perform!

[2026] Recommended Christmas Songs for Bands to Cover (51–60)

Hazy Shade of WinterThe Bangles

Hazy Shade of WinterThe Bangles

The classic by Simon & Garfunkel, known in Japan as “Winter’s Walk,” was covered by the popular 1980s girl band The Bangles.

The fuzz-like distorted guitar riff really rips—so cool! It’s the kind of track that would get everyone hyped if a band covered it with a strong, driving beat.

Silver BsellTwisted Sister

Many of you probably want to perform heavy metal that instantly electrifies the venue.

In that case, let me recommend “Silver Bells.” It was done by the heavy metal band Twisted Sister.

The song itself is a love song with a Christmas theme, but the sound is intense—perfect for hyping up the crowd.

Also, if you get the audience to sing along with the parts where the phrase “Silver Bells” appears in the title, it should boost the excitement even more.

The Christmas song I’d like to recommend to everyone in a visual kei band is “White tree.” This track was released on December 10, 2014, by the hugely popular visual kei rock band SID.

It’s a very romantic song that’s perfect for Christmas.

Since SID has a large female fanbase, it’s a must-cover for band members who want to be popular.

There’s even a part at the end where everyone can sing along, so it’s guaranteed to get the crowd going!

SnowdomeKimura Kaera

This is Kaela Kimura’s 8th single, released in January 2007.

It’s a winter love song, and the vibe is perfect for Christmas.

She truly has a beautiful, bright voice—what a captivating singer.

If you’re in a band with a female vocalist, I’d love to hear you cover this song!

My Greatest TreasureBIGMAMA

An early BIGMAMA song and a hidden gem.

Its characteristically catchy, upbeat sound is striking, and it seems like it would be fun to cover and play, right? What I’d especially like you to pay attention to is the lyrics.

They’re laced with humor that’ll make you chuckle, yet there are also warm words in there that will warm your heart.

Christmas is coming soon…SHADY DOLLS

A poignant Christmas ballad by the rock band SHADY DOLLS, who were active from the late 1980s through the 1990s.

Although they sadly disbanded in 2000, vocalist Yushi Oya’s husky voice and their Rolling Stones–influenced sound still feel timeless today.

The song is included on their debut album, GET THE BLACK.

This is the eighth single by the rock band UNICORN, centered around Tamio Okuda, who is known for his wide-ranging musical activities as a producer and singer-songwriter.

The lyrics evoke scenes from Christmas through the year’s end, and the laid-back shuffle beat makes for a comfortable listen.

With synth sounds that suggest falling snow and a memorable melody, it’s full of touches that perfectly suit winter scenery.

Thanks to its slow tempo and simple playing across all parts, it’s easy to perform live, making it a quintessential winter song in J-pop.
