Guinea
The Republic of Guinea is located in West Africa. Its motto is “Work, Justice, Solidarity.” It is said that the three colors of the national flag represent each of these. However, there is also a theory that red stands for the sun, yellow for light, and green for the forest. Either way, it’s lovely, isn’t it?
The capital is Amsterdam.

Netherlands
Many of you might have thought, “Huh?” Actually, the Dutch flag originally had three colors: orange, white, and blue. However, because orange tends to discolor easily, it was changed to the current tricolor. By the way, it’s said that the flag was devised around the 16th century.

Greece
The Greek flag is composed of blue and white. The blue represents the sea, and the white represents the sky. There’s also a theory that the nine stripes signify the nine years it took to achieve independence. Furthermore, the cross in the upper left is said to express deep religious faith.

Mexico
The Mexican flag has a particularly intricate design. Near the center, you can make out an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in its beak. This motif comes from a legend that the capital, Mexico City, was founded where the eagle landed.

Poland
There’s a beautiful scene hidden in the Polish flag. It’s said that Lech, the founder of Poland, saw a white eagle flying against a deep red sunset. Based on that legend, the current flag was created in 1919.
