For a birthday present! Fun sweets. Popular candy wrapping (11–20)
A surprise cake that dispenses sweets

The “candy house” from Hansel and Gretel is every child’s dream, isn’t it? As a kid, I can’t tell you how many times I wondered, “What if a real candy house actually existed?” If tons of my favorite sweets came pouring out of my favorite cake—now that would be just as exciting as a candy house! And it’s easier to make than you might think.
All you do is use a large Baumkuchen as the base, fill the inside with candy, and assemble the cake.
When you slice it and treats like Koala’s March and Kinoko no Yama spill out in a crunchy cascade, any child would go wild with joy.
It’s not a high hurdle, so even if you don’t usually bake cakes, give it a try!
Bowl Sweets

What if those realistic-looking gyudon and katsudon bowls were actually desserts? Give the mind-bending “donburi sweets” as a birthday present! They look like rice bowls, but they’re trending because they taste delicious—classic dishes like gyudon, mapo tofu rice bowls, katsudon, tenshinhan, and kitsune udon are recreated with sweets like whipped cream, sponge cake, cookies, and mousse to look incredibly real.
They’re pretty tough to make yourself, but you can order them frozen online, so why not check them out? They make a great, social media–worthy gift!
Whole Melon Cake

I thought it was a melon, but when I cut it open, it was actually a cake inside! Surprise everyone with a “Whole Melon Cake.” First, slice off the top of the melon, then scoop out the flesh, being careful not to damage the rind.
A slightly larger melon makes the work easier.
Layer cake and cream inside like a mille-feuille, and your Whole Melon Cake is ready! By the way, have you seen those Korean cakes with seven-colored layers? The decoration looks just like a rainbow.
Those seven layers could be adapted for a Whole Melon Cake, too.
If you love baking, give it a try.
Giant cookie

How about baking a whimsical “giant cookie” as a birthday present? The classic crowd-pleaser is, of course, the chocolate chip cookie, but you could also get creative by adding nuts or dried fruit instead of just chocolate.
Since it’s huge, the ingredients might cost a little more, but try giving it a shot while picturing the birthday person’s surprised face! If you’re good at making sweets, this is a recommendation just for you.
gingerbread house

It’s fun to make, and even more fun to receive—no doubt about it! How about giving a whimsical “candy house” as a birthday present? Use white chocolate as an adhesive to assemble cookies, chocolate, and chocolate treats.
If you imagine the white chocolate as snow and add touches like a snowman, it becomes even cuter and gives off a cozy vibe! You can create a wonderful candy house just by combining sweets, so give it a try!
Candy Trophy

A classic gift for friends, upperclassmen, and underclassmen is the “candy randoseru.” It’s like a dream for candy lovers: a school backpack made entirely of sweets, with even more candy packed inside.
Let’s adapt the “candy randoseru” and make a “candy trophy.” Boxed sweets like Chip Star or Koala’s March work better than bagged snacks like potato chips because they create a cleaner trophy shape.
The trick is to use clear tape so the candy box designs remain visible.
If you’re patient, you could even treat Tirol chocolates like building blocks and make a trophy using only Tirol—now that would make for an unforgettable birthday!

A message from the box of sweets

Hiding a message card inside a snack is a great surprise because you can hand it over naturally without raising suspicion.
Simply open the package from a spot different from the main opening, slip the card in, and use double-sided tape to restore it so it looks unopened—easy, right? Just be careful: if the box looks warped, it’s more likely to give you away.
If a casually given snack contains a congratulatory message, the birthday person will probably feel twice the joy.
