[Baseball Cheering] A roundup of popular chance themes that hype up pro baseball games (21–30)
We can!Yokohama DeNA Beisutāzu

This is a Yokohama DeNA BayStars cheer song that’s been used as a multi-theme since 2021.
The trumpet at the beginning sounds really cool, doesn’t it? Throughout the song there aren’t many lyrics and there are lots of chants, so even first-time visitors to the stadium can pick it up quickly.
The rhythm is a bit tricky, though, so you might need some practice.
When everyone nails the chants and the beat together, it looks super cool! Be sure to practice and head to the ballpark!
Chance wasshoi!Hanshin Taigāsu

When it comes to the Hanshin Tigers’ chance themes, this is the song.
It’s one of the rally tunes played when the Tigers look likely to score.
Even fans in the stands who are drinking beer will put their cups down and start cheering when this song comes on! In the first half of the song, you don’t bang your cheer bat; you line up your bats and wave them left and right while singing.
That’s so much fun.
Singing along is a blast, and there’s that rush of excitement that a run might be coming.
Experience it once and you’ll never forget it.
Hit hereTohoku Rakuten Golden Iigurusu

This is one of the chance themes played when the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles are on the attack and look likely to score.
It’s been getting attention for its distinctive, addictive melody line.
Another hallmark of this song is that fans whirl towels instead of using cheer bats.
Because of that, while this chant is sung, only the vocals and the cheer drum ring out, creating a different atmosphere from other chants.
When you join in, you can feel the drum resonating from the pit of your stomach, wrapping you in an indescribable rush of excitement.
Chance Theme 3Hokkaidō Nippon-Hamu Faitāzu

This is one of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters’ chance themes.
Set to the main theme from the musical film “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” fans shout encouragement to the players.
Because “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” is an upbeat song, it feels perfect for a sports setting.
The chant basically proceeds as a call-and-response with the main melody, but there is a short section where the singing overlaps the melody, which might be hard to sing depending on the tempo.
It’s a bright, positive chance theme that wishes for the players’ success.
Win it!Yomiuri Jaiantsu

This is one of the chance themes played when the Yomiuri Giants are on offense and look likely to score.
At the beginning there are no cheer drums, and fans sing along with the trumpet’s main melody.
As the song progresses into the latter half, the voltage rises and the pitch goes up, so keep an ear out for the trumpets hitting those high notes! Since it’s a cheer song with lyrics, you can look them up beforehand and sing along at the stadium for more fun.
If you also learn the cheer bat rhythm used during player calls, you’ll enjoy it even more.
Chance Theme 1Tōkyō Yakuruto Suwarōzu

This is one of the chance themes played when the Tokyo Yakult Swallows are on offense and look likely to score.
This cheer song is a chance theme based on Whiteberry’s hugely popular summer hit “Natsumatsuri.” In professional baseball, many cheer songs are arrangements of other songs, like this one.
At the beginning of the song, instead of beating the cheer bats, fans sing along and hold the two bats together, swinging them sideways in time with the music.
The contrast between this relaxed opening and the fast tempo when the chance theme kicks in is really enjoyable.
Chance Theme 1Fukuoka Sofutobanku Hōkusu

It’s one of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks’ chance themes, played when they’re likely to score.
The same trumpet melody repeats four times in a single tune, and it really gets stuck in your head.
Another noteworthy point is how the cheering bats are used.
In this song, fans in the very front row actually bang on the wall that separates the stands from the field instead of just clapping their bats.
It puts a lot of pressure on the opposing team, so I’m sure plenty of fans from other clubs have traumatic memories of it.
When you’re cheering for SoftBank, it makes you want to reserve a front-row seat in the stands!
