Felt gingerbread house

Some of you might be wondering, “What’s a gingerbread house?” In short, it’s a little house made out of gingerbread cookies.
In Germany, it’s called a Hexenhaus.
The powdered sugar that looks like snow makes it perfect for the Christmas season.
If you’re making it flat, it’s surprisingly simple—just cut the house shape out of felt.
Building a three-dimensional house, however, requires more parts and some time for the glue to set, so it may take a bit of patience! If you’re confident with your hands, give it a try!
Felt gingerbread cookie

In the 16th century, the plague spread widely in England.
At that time, King Henry VIII learned that ginger was good for preventing the plague and encouraged his people to eat it.
It was around then that ginger cookies became popular, and it’s said their shape was made to resemble Henry VIII.
Nowadays, they’re a treat we often see during the Christmas season.
Why not try making gingerbread man decorations out of felt? You won’t need needles or thread, so even small children can make them easily.
Make lots and decorate your Christmas tree!

Felt Mickey ornament

Mickey is a character loved all over the world.
If you make a Mickey-shaped ornament, it will surely delight anyone who sees it on display.
Use a compass to create a template for the circular shapes of Mickey’s face and ears before you start.
Prepare two pieces of felt cut into Mickey’s silhouette, and sew them together while stuffing them with batting.
That alone makes a cute piece, but let’s add some extra flair.
Place a piece of white felt, cut in a wavy pattern, over the top of Mickey’s head.
It can look like snow, or like icing on a sweet treat.
Try adding beads to the white felt and get creative!
Felt mitten ornament

A mitten is a tube-shaped piece of winter wear where only the thumb is separate.
Some say it’s the origin of gloves.
Tiny mitten ornaments would be adorable, too.
Since it only involves cutting and gluing, even lower-grade elementary school kids can handle it! Simply cut felt into a mitten shape by imitating a sample, and attach a separately prepared wrist section, and you’re mostly done.
Adding little tree or star decorations to the mitten will make it instantly more Christmassy.
Crafting the wrist section with stuffing (batting) could also change the feel and look lovely!
A cut-and-paste snowman

This snowman ornament is perfect for anyone who isn’t confident with sewing or wants to enjoy making things with small children.
All you have to do is cut and paste, so once you make one, you’ll probably want to make lots more.
Stick white felt onto a triangular cone made from thick paper and the snowman part is almost done.
There are plenty of ways to customize the cute hat, scarf, and more, so have fun making them together.
If you’re using it as a tree decoration, it’s a good idea to attach felt to the bottom of the cone as well.
Christmas tree one-piece dress

Here’s a kids’ Christmas tree costume you can make with materials from the 100-yen shop! You’ll need felt, Christmas decoration balls, a camisole, wood glue, thread, buttons or adhesive hook-and-loop fasteners, and elastic cord.
First, trace a pattern based on your child’s clothing.
Cut the felt in three tiers shaped like a tree, about 70 cm wide, and sew them with a sewing machine.
Gather each tier, thread elastic through them, and insert the camisole inside to form the tree shape.
Next, make a tree hat from felt, size it to your child’s head, and attach a star ornament to the top.
Finally, use wood glue to attach the Christmas decorations to the outfit and hat, and you’re done! For fastening the outfit, use child-safe options like adhesive hook-and-loop or buttons to prevent injuries.
Christmas cloak

Here’s how to make a Christmas cape for kids.
You’ll need white and red felt, thread, and a cord.
First, mark points 10 cm and 60 cm from a corner of the felt, connect them with a curve, and cut along the line.
Next, place it on the white felt and trace the neckline shape.
Draw your preferred collar shape, then layer the two pieces and cut them together.
Cut two pieces from the white felt, layer two pieces of red felt and sew them together, then attach the white felt along the edge.
Finally, sandwich the cord between the collar pieces and sew the collar to finish.
You can also make a Christmas tree cape with green felt!
