Furuhata Ninzaburo is a popular drama series that aired from 1994 to 2006.

When it comes to this show, the distinctive narration by the protagonist, Furuhata Ninzaburo, played by Masakazu Tamura, leaves a strong impression.

How about trying to imitate that? Of course, you can mimic the voice and appearance, but it’s also important to get the signature lines right.

After you’ve finished speaking, simply add “This has been Furuhata Ninzaburo” at the end, and the atmosphere will instantly feel more authentic.

Incidentally, in recent years it’s also become known through parodies performed by Ryota Yamasato.

Boys Over Flowers

The drama Hana Yori Dango, a huge hit based on a shoujo manga, made Obata no Oniisan famous for his impression where he only imitates the part of Shun Oguri’s character, Hanazawa Rui, calling out “Ma–ki–no!” to the heroine.

Wouldn’t that work well as a one-shot gag?

In conclusion

Since TV dramas are watched by so many people, you can actually score some laughs just by imitating a character’s famous lines. Of course, it’s important not to be shy and to really get into character when you do your impression. If it’s a distinctive character, you could even try a bit of cosplay and take on a performance with the full outfit!
