Drinking party crowd-pleasers: party and banquet games

A lot of people are probably thinking about simple games to play at banquets, right?

Whether it’s a wedding after-party, a New Year’s party, a year-end party, or a welcome/farewell party, having a game that helps everyone bond and adds a touch of flair to the event makes it more fun.

That said, it can be hard to choose a game for a banquet with multiple participants, since there are so many considerations, don’t you think?

So in this article, we’ll introduce banquet games you can enjoy in a variety of situations!

We’ve picked out a wide range—from timeless classics to slightly unique games—so please use this as a reference.

Party and drinking games that liven up a get-together (51–60)

Slipper relay

Banquets, Year-End Parties, and Party Game Collection: Slipper Relay — Tips for Organizers
Slipper relay

Prepare just one pair of slippers.

Line up in a row, and at the start signal, pass the slippers down the line using only your feet in a relay.

You must not use your hands, and dropping them means you’re out.

If there are many participants, you can make it a team competition, which should make it even more exciting!

Super Mario game

A party game everyone can enjoy in a circle: the Super Mario Game.

While pointing at one of the participants, you say parts of “Super Mario” split however you like—such as “Su,” “Pā,” “Mari,” and so on.

The person who gets pointed at must say the next part, and whoever says the final “o” of “Mario” has to imitate Mario’s jump sound.

If someone manages to say the entire “Super Mario” in one go, then everyone shouts “Yahoo!” like Mario when he jumps.

It’s a surefire way to get the party going!

Tissue Catch Game

Championship: Catching falling tissues with a party blower
Tissue Catch Game

It’s a game where you drop a tissue from a height and try to catch it.

Just catching it with your hand is easy, but using variant rules—like grabbing it with chopsticks or with a party blower—makes it harder and likely more exciting.

Mansion Game

[Hype] Condo Game [Rhythm Game]
Mansion Game

A condo game where you call out room numbers to a rhythm.

First, decide who is Room 101; from that person, the count proceeds clockwise to 102, 103, and so on.

In rhythm, the person whose room number is called must call the next room number.

If anyone says, “Going up,” the count jumps to the second floor starting at Room 201 from that person, and the room numbers continue clockwise from them again.

The key is to call without mistakes and keep track of your own room number.

Mozzarella Cheese Game

I tried playing the Mozzarella Cheese game for real
Mozzarella Cheese Game

It’s a very simple game where you just take turns saying “mozzarella cheese.” It’s super simple, but there’s a rule: you have to say “mozzarella cheese” with more enthusiasm than the person before you.

So if someone goes high-energy early on, it gets tough for the rest.

Judging can be tricky too, but with some funny faces mixed in, it always turns into a burst of laughter and gets everyone hyped!
