[For Seniors] Make Every Day Fun! A Collection of Handmade Tear-off Calendars
Page-a-day calendars are often made as recreational activities in elderly care facilities.
Some facilities create them as a year-end tradition.
A calendar made by everyone brightens up a room just by being displayed.
However, rather than making the same kind every year, you might want to try something with a fresh twist.
So this time, we’re introducing a variety of handmade page-a-day calendar ideas.
We’ve selected designs that are easy for older adults to flip and that can be used at home as well.
For people with dementia, recognizing the date can be challenging.
Making it a daily habit to flip the calendar can help them stay aware of the date.

Snoopy tear-off daily calendar

Many people love the popular comic Peanuts.
So I’d like to share an idea for a daily tear-off calendar inspired by one of the most memorable scenes: Snoopy sleeping on top of his doghouse.
First, cut construction paper to make the parts and glue them together.
Next, punch holes, thread pipe cleaners through, and attach the calendar ring and sheets there.
Since it’s very hard to cut the parts accurately without a reference, prepare a sample illustration to follow.
It would also be fun to make versions with other characters.
Paper Plate Perpetual Calendar

The perfect option for anyone who wants something to hang on the wall is a paper-plate perpetual calendar.
First, write the numbers 1 through 31 around the rim of a paper plate.
Then stack another paper plate on top and cut a window so that only one number is visible.
Next, make a hole in the center and fasten them with a pin.
You can then rotate the plates to use it as a perpetual calendar.
Try making a separate paper plate for the months in the same way.
It’s also nice to hang it next to your planner or by your desk.
In conclusion
We introduced various ideas for a daily tear-off calendar.
Using your fingertips and concentrating stimulates the brain and can help prevent dementia.
If you make the calendar yourself, you’ll likely grow attached to it by displaying it at home.
Looking at the calendar also helps you live with an awareness of the date.
Please give it a try and make one together.
