cherry (sweet cherry; cherry fruit)
@safran5069 I’ve started making the July calendar 🍒 It’s cherry season now!Minami Ward, Nagoya CityCommunity-based day service#SafranSakuramotomachiTranslationCaregiving#WelfareCalendarJuly#cherry

Cherries with eye-catching red fruits are not only delicious but also adorable to look at—a motif everyone loves.
The sight of two cherries hanging from a single stem is irresistibly charming, and it makes for a visually appealing craft, so it’s highly recommended.
First, cut red or pink construction paper or origami paper into small circles, and also make half-circle pieces to layer and glue on.
Then attach them as if hanging from green leaf-shaped origami, and you’ll have a three-dimensional, cute cherry craft.
A watermelon that pops open
@ringoshien We made a fun craft where you can flip it open to see the inside of a watermelon. If you haven’t tried it before, would you like to give it a go? It’s really fun!

Speaking of July, the heat really starts to kick in and summer truly begins, doesn’t it? And summer means watermelon.
This is a fun, pop-up-style craft that shows a whole watermelon, and when you flip it open, you can see the inside.
First, cut green construction paper into a circle and a semicircle of the same size, then cut a slightly smaller circle from red construction paper.
After drawing the pattern on the outside of the watermelon, glue the red circle onto it.
For the seeds, use black round stickers, and for the vine, colorful pipe cleaners make it quick, easy, and great-looking—highly recommended!
Pompon Hydrangea
@safran5069 We’re starting on the June calendar! This time, it’s hydrangeas ✨Minami Ward, Nagoya CityCommunity-based day service#SafranSakuramotomachiTranslation#WelfareCaregivingCalendarCare Worker Recruitment

It’s a fun activity where you can create vibrant hydrangeas just by dabbing stamps.
First, wrap some bubble wrap around the end of a toilet paper roll to make a stamp.
Prepare a variety of colors, and let people stamp with whichever colors they like—it’s an easy way to give it a try.
Next, bundle several cotton swabs together and tap them from above.
The large and small blossoms overlap like real hydrangeas, making it delightful that even those who aren’t confident in drawing can finish with a lovely piece of artwork!
Sea-themed calendar collage
@pom2026_nata15 Calendar collage July 2024! The theme is the sea 🏖️CollageI want to connect with people who like collages.#collage#Paper goodsASMR-styleHandmade CalendarCalendarJuly

How about creating an exciting ocean scene using translucent origami you can find at 100-yen shops? In addition to origami themed around sea creatures, try combining blue, cellophane-type origami, as well as memos and stickers—have fun mixing and matching.
Arrange and paste them to fit the size of the calendar you want to make, and you’ll have a unique, original ocean.
You’ll be able to reminisce about nostalgic seaside memories and enjoy a delightful July.
goldfish bowl
How about using a goldfish bowl as a calendar motif—an item that brings a cool feeling to your room as we head into the height of summer? Prepare a sheet of white drawing paper and draw the outline of a goldfish bowl with blue paint or a pen, and let’s get started.
It’s a good idea to have goldfish shapes cut out from red and black origami paper, and thin strips of green origami for the algae.
Paste the goldfish and algae wherever you like with glue, and for sand and bubbles, you can stick on colorful round stickers—it’ll be fun! Let’s get through the hot summer while gazing at the goldfish swimming so refreshingly.
uchiwa (Japanese hand fan)

Why not make “uchiwa” fans—a hallmark of summer—out of origami to brighten up your calendar? Using cute patterned origami or layering summer-themed designs like morning glories and goldfish will give your fan a stylish finish.
Drawing summery motifs such as goldfish or fireworks also creates a cool, refreshing look.
Even just scattering and pasting them onto an existing calendar will complete a summer scene full of seasonal charm.
Since it’s easy to make, it’s also recommended as a recreational activity at senior care facilities.
Give it a try!
firefly

These days, we don’t get as many chances to see fireflies glowing over rice fields and waterways at night.
When today’s seniors were young, weren’t there many more fireflies flitting about? Let’s make a calendar using firefly origami that brings back those kinds of summer memories.
Since you’ll make the firefly’s body and its glowing part separately, there are fewer tricky steps.
For the glowing tail, try sticking on a yellow circle cut from origami paper or a round yellow sticker.
Besides calendars, this firefly origami is perfect for summer crafts like wreaths and wall decorations.
