Aimer is a singer-songwriter who debuted in 2011.

She’s also known for contributing many theme songs for films, TV dramas, and anime.

In particular, Zankyo Sanka, the opening theme for Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc, topped numerous music charts.

One of her charms is how dramatically her style changes from song to song—sometimes delivering intense tracks, other times tender ballads.

Be sure to listen to several of her songs and enjoy the contrast.

One of my students once practiced “Stellar Stellar,” but this time, “Mou Dounatte mo Ii ya” has a completely different vibe—it’s a cool-style anime song.

Listening through the whole track, it has an overall sense of speed with lots of fast lyrics, so keeping the rhythm is very important.

Since it’s such a fast song and the pitch goes up to D5, the key is to avoid straining your voice.

It might help to sing with a relaxed approach, using a strong head voice.

BelieveFolder5

It was a five-member female idol group that went on hiatus around 2003.

All members were alumni of the Okinawa Actors School, and the group is also known for including Hikari Mitsushima, who is now active as an actress.

The group’s predecessor, Folder, featured Daichi Miura—now known as the singer DAICHI—who was called the Japanese Michael Jackson and served as the group’s vocalist.

May’n is a singer who is active not only as an anime song vocalist but also in a wide range of roles including lyric writing and composing.

She performed the singing parts for the character Sheryl Nome in the anime Macross Frontier and released many songs under the name “Sheryl Nome starring May’n.” She later strengthened her involvement with anime music, releasing works under her solo name such as the opening theme for the anime Shangri-La, “Kimi Shinitamou Koto Nakare.” Her soaring high-tone voice is a major hallmark, conveying a straightforward message through her vocals.

I love this song too, and I was really shocked the first time I heard it! When you think of Nana Mizuki, you think of anime songs.

Of course she has lots of cool tracks, but Synchrogazer packs in so many sounds and elements—orchestra, rock, electro, synths, electric guitar—and on top of that you get Nana Mizuki’s powerful high notes.

It’s such a cool song that makes your eyes sparkle as you listen! What’s amazing about Nana Mizuki is how she switches between different ways of delivering high notes.

She does use a lot of head voice, but she makes sure to sing the climactic parts in chest voice.

The way she changes her singing style to match the song’s image really shows her skill as a voice actress! Be sure to check out her other songs too!

This is a track that vividly portrays the light and shadow of the perfect idol through striking sound.

It was created by YOASOBI, a music duo whose members are active in various fields.

The song was used as the opening theme for the TV anime Oshi no Ko and is based on a novel specially written by the original creator, Aka Akasaka.

Since its release in April 2023, it has become a global hit.

Praise from fans, jealousy from peers, and the lies and loneliness the protagonist carries—its rapidly shifting perspectives and musical styles bring the character’s complex inner world into sharp relief.

The expressive power that hints at madness beneath the cute vocals is captivating all on its own.

It’s a highly addictive pop tune that seems to touch the very core of the story.
