A roundup of finger magic: Tricks you can do using just your fingertips (21–30)
a detachable thumb

Among sleight-of-hand tricks that use only your fingertips, the all-time classic is the “detachable thumb” trick.
You’ve probably performed it for someone at least once—or had someone show it to you.
For those who don’t know it, here’s how it’s done: First, bend both thumbs at the first knuckle.
Join the bent knuckles together.
At this point, imagine you’re using both thumbs to form a single thumb.
Then, use your index and middle fingers to cover the spot where the knuckles meet.
That’s the setup.
Finally, slide one thumb from that joint, and it will look as if your thumb has come off! Depending on how you present it, it can look really convincing or not so great, so definitely practice and experiment with your presentation!
A ring that makes the finger you wear it on disappear

It’s a magic trick where your finger seems to vanish at the ring’s boundary.
For this trick, prepare a single ring that’s slightly thick and a bit large.
The magic actually begins with the ring’s appearance: hide it on the inside of your middle finger and act as if it has materialized from midair.
At the moment you put on the ring, bend your finger and seat the ring over the joint; from the front, it should look like your finger disappears at the ring’s edge.
Finally, when you remove the ring, straighten your finger so it appears to return to normal.
Practice until you can perform it smoothly!
The middle finger moves toward the little finger.

It’s a mysterious magic trick where you seem to remove your middle finger and attach it to where your pinky is.
In reality, the finger that looks like it’s removed at the start isn’t the right hand’s middle finger—it’s the left hand’s middle finger.
At the same time, the right hand’s pinky is bent back toward the back of the hand and hidden at an angle where it can’t be seen.
If you watch it a few times, you’ll notice that unnatural part and figure out the secret, but on first viewing you won’t understand what’s happening and it feels astonishing! Practice in front of a mirror and show it off to your friends!
Growing Fingers

Just by looking at the photo, you’re guaranteed to do a double take.
It looks like one hand has nine fingers—an expanding-fingers magic trick.
Even if you examine the image closely, it’s hard to figure out how it’s done.
The secret lies in overlapping your palms.
Wrap one hand from behind with the other hand’s palm.
At this point, line up all the fingers except the thumb of the wrapping hand in the gap between the thumb and index finger of the other hand.
Then put a scrunchie or some other chunky accessory on your wrist so it looks like there’s only one arm, and the trick is a success!
Nose-finger cross

The magic trick where arms that would normally get twisted somehow return to their original position is called the “Nose-Finger Cross.” First, raise the index fingers of both hands and cross your arms.
Then have your partner touch the side of their nose with their finger just like that.
You, meanwhile, secretly cross your fingers as well before touching your nose.
This double crossing—of both the arms and the fingers—is the secret to the trick, and it lets you straighten your arms without them getting twisted.
Finally, when you and your partner uncross your arms at the same time, your partner’s arms end up tangled while only your arms return to normal.
Index finger that naturally sticks (together) / An index finger that naturally comes together

Even though it’s your own body, it’s surprising when it moves without you intending it to, right? With this “Sticking Index Fingers” trick, you can experience that strange sensation.
First, hold both hands out in front of you.
Then clasp them firmly together as if you’re praying.
Interlace your fingers deeply and grip tightly.
Next, straighten only your index fingers on both hands.
Bend those raised index fingers outward, away from each other.
From here, gradually relax the tension in your fingers.
Strangely enough, the fingers will start to return to their original position.
It’s a really fun experience!
The Ring Finger That Won’t Let Go

Here’s a little “immovable ring finger” trick I’d love for you to try yourself.
First, make fists with both hands and press them together so that the first knuckles line up and touch, and the second knuckles line up and touch as well.
From there, extend your index fingers.
With your index fingers extended, try touching them together and pulling them apart—move them around.
Now try the same with your middle fingers and your pinkies.
They should all move freely.
Finally, try it with your ring fingers.
It’s like you’ve been put under a spell—your ring fingers won’t move, right? This apparently has to do with the structure of the ligaments in your fingers.
It’s a magic trick that teaches you about how the body works!
