My Very Own Merry ChristmasNagabuchi Tsuyoshi

A rare Christmas song by Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi, a singer-songwriter from Kagoshima and one of Japan’s most iconic artists.
It appears on his sixth album, HEAVY GAUGE, released in 1983.
Composed solely of Nagabuchi’s own piano-and-vocal performance accompanied only by harmonica, it’s a simple yet heartwarming hidden gem.
Fans will know that in his early days, Nagabuchi was a folk singer known for his delicate high-register vocals, but around this work you can hear the shift toward the raspy, passionate voice that became his trademark—making it an important song from a transitional period.
The lyrics were written by the renowned Goro Matsui.
If you sing it at karaoke, try performing it gently, as if telling a nostalgic story to a child.
Merry Christmas, I Love Youkuroyume

Kuroyume is a two-piece rock band whose name was chosen from the idea that “dreams and gods don’t exist.” Their song “Merry X’mas, I Love You,” included as the B-side to their 11th single “Shōnen,” is known as a rare Kuroyume track that sings of peace—a Christmas song.
The wistful melody carried by acoustic guitar gains a unique impact and persuasiveness precisely because it’s sung by Kuroyume.
It’s a hidden gem that I’d love men in their 40s to sing at karaoke during the Christmas season.
Together…MAX

MAX is a dance group formed by four members from Okinawa Actors School.
Their 15th single, “Issho ni…,” was released as the group’s first medium-tempo ballad and is also known for its various tie-ins.
With its heartrending lyrics and translucent sound, women in their 40s—the generation it speaks to—may find themselves reflecting on their own experiences.
This beautiful, Christmas-evoking ballad adds a touch of elegance to any karaoke session.
New Love SongUrufuruzu

Some of you may be looking for songs that are perfect for a karaoke date.
In that case, I recommend “Atarashii Ai no Uta ~Merry Merry Christmas~.” It’s a track included on Ulfuls’ single “Yume.” Set to a mid-tempo ballad sound, the song delivers a straightforward confession of love from a male perspective.
The earnest lyrics are part of its charm.
With its bright, catchy melody, it’s easy to sing without feeling shy—even to someone special.
A town where it doesn’t snowKobukuro

Speaking of winter songs with heartwarming melodies and bittersweet lyrics, it has to be Kobukuro’s popular single released in November 2002.
Perfect for the winter season, this song portrays the pain of missed connections and heartbreak with a warm sense of nostalgia for memories past—an adult love song at its finest.
For those in their 40s who spent their youth in the era when CDs were at their peak, it’s surely a memorable track.
Its easy-to-sing melody makes it great for karaoke, and singing it together with friends during the Christmas season is guaranteed to warm everyone’s hearts!
