Hit songs and fan favorites by Friends

Friends is a five-member co-ed band that debuted in April 2016 with their first single, “Yoru ni Dance.”

In this article, we’ll introduce some recommended songs by Friends!

Calling themselves a “Shinsen-kei” band, Friends’ music is characterized by stylish, easy-to-listen-to sounds.

But the point we most want to recommend is, of course, the comfort of their songs.

No matter which track you listen to, it calms your heart and soothes frayed feelings.

If you haven’t heard them yet, you’re missing out! Take this opportunity to give them a listen!

Friends’ famous and popular songs (11–20)

take a chancefurenzu

The lead track from the second mini-album “HEARTS GIRL.” The repeating keyboard tones are striking.

It’s a cheer song that says, “No matter how many times you mess up, keep reaching for your chance!”—a gentle piece that gives you a soft push from behind.

Okamoto Emi’s clear, expansive vocals are soothing too, like a supplement for the heart.

Give it a listen when you need some encouragement.

Bedside Musicfurenzu

The song that led to the formation of Friends is Bedside Music.

Hirose Hirose composed it, and Okamoto Emi wrote the lyrics.

It all started when Ryōhei Nagashima listened to the demo tape and suggested turning it into a full song—at that point, Friends hadn’t been formed yet.

It’s a lovely piece that makes you want to listen before bed and soothe yourself.

Harajuku 6:00 p.m.furenzu

This song portrays the adorable feelings of a girl in love, set against the backdrop of a date.

The lyrics tell a story, and before you know it, you’re completely absorbed in it.

It’s a track brimming with the sweet-and-sour emotions of young love.

Since Harajuku’s scenery appears in the lyrics, it’s also fun to listen while picturing those scenes.

Sorry for the summer SAY ♡furenzu

Friends: “Sorry for bringing it up in the summer, SAY♡”
Sorry for the summer SAY ♡furenzu

The title makes it clear that “Sorry for the Summer SAY♡” is a summer song.

However, the music video surprisingly opens with them dressed as Santa, and that kind of subverting expectations is so typical of Friends.

As a song, it has the poppy, fun sound that’s characteristic of Friends and is perfect for summer.

Perpetual Summer Vacationfurenzu

Eternal Summer Vacation opens with a tropical vibe.

It’s an upbeat dance track driven by Hirose Hirose’s rap and Emi Okamoto’s glossy vocals.

Taro Miura’s occasional lines add a touch of poignancy that’s really wonderful, too.

Maybe because it’s a fun song that amps up summer romance, the music video features all the members dancing, making it a joy to watch as well.

Let’s have funfurenzu

Let's have funfurenzu

A fun, poppy number that kicks off with a bouncy intro.

“Tanoshimou” became the theme song for the film Today’s Lunchbox With Love (starring Ryoko Shinohara).

It’s a song wishing for everyone’s smiles, and just listening to it will warm your heart and make you smile.

With its bright, friendly melody, kids are sure to enjoy it too! It might be nice to sing along together as a parent and child and simply have fun.

Friends' classic and popular songs (21–30)

The Whereabouts on August 31furenzu

Marked by a crystal-clear melody that evokes the bittersweet air of late summer.

This track by the five-member co-ed band Friends was released as a digital single in August 2020.

It candidly portrays wavering feelings of love—being utterly smitten yet still unsure if it’s the real thing.

The modern scenes of romance are skillfully expressed, making it highly relatable.

If you want to immerse yourself in the feeling of thinking deeply about someone, this piece might be a perfect fit.
