See ya,yayuyo

Formed in 2019, Yayuyo is a girls’ band from Osaka that drew attention after signing with the label TALTO, home to popular bands like SUPER BEAVER, sumika, and Macaroni Empitsu.

In August 2023, their drummer Su-chan unfortunately left the band, and they have since continued their activities with a support drummer.

When they formed, the members were university students, and their music is characterized by melodies and sounds reminiscent of the late ’90s to early 2000s—nostalgic for those who know that era and refreshingly new to younger fans.

“Abayo,” which opens their debut full-length album “Hibi Ranman” released in 2022, is a masterpiece featuring a wistful, lyrical melody woven over a waltz rhythm and a wonderfully dramatic song structure.

The lyrics are also excellent, showing subtle shifts in emotion even as the singer hurls parting words at an ex—definitely worth checking out.

Many of you probably spent your youthful days alongside the music of these artists who blazed through the 2010s.

Their songs—backed by solid musicianship and taste, and infused with a modern sensibility that goes beyond the confines of a rock band—are all top-tier, and they gained popularity, even being chosen for tie-in songs with hit anime.

Today, I’d like to introduce Dramatic, included on their second major-label album, The GARDEN.

With its supple, danceable rhythm, stylish chord progressions, lyrics that lift your spirits, a melody that resonates in the heart, and a voice with a firm core—powerful yet cute—it’s a truly superb killer tune.

Perfect as BGM for a drive with someone you love—don’t miss it!

Included on their album “Ningen Nano sa,” this song portrays their journey.

Released in March 2021, it reflects their experiences on tour.

Its brisk rhythm and powerful vocals are striking, giving listeners courage.

Momoko Hayashi’s singing is passionate and moving.

The lyrics, which sing of growth and bonds while pursuing dreams, are also noteworthy.

Chilli Beans.

is a girls’ trio that shot to prominence as a young band after their 2021 release “lemonade” became a viral hit.

Formed by three alumni of Ongaku Juku Voice, they have captivated many music fans with their outstanding musicianship, expressive vocals, skillful songwriting, and tight band ensemble, making them one of the hottest young rock bands energizing the music scene of the 2020s.

Their November 2021 release “Andron,” a co-written track with Vaundy like the aforementioned “lemonade,” is quintessentially Chilli Beans.: its deft, minimalist-leaning arrangement, and lyrics that blend Moto’s unique sense of language with a charming yet bittersweet tone, make it a standout song.

Incidentally, “Andron” is a coined word by Moto; rather than creating a word after deciding on a meaning, she first came up with the word “Andron” and then thought about what it could mean.

A song with a refreshing, summer-defying melody that leaves a strong impression.

It opens with driving drums, followed by a catchy guitar riff that sticks in your head.

Eriko Hashimoto’s powerful vocals superbly capture the exhilaration of falling in love.

The lyrics depict the struggle of not being able to be honest about one’s feelings, conveying the complex emotions of a woman.

It’s perfect for making summer memories, so be sure to give it a listen before heading to the beach or the pool.

SHISHAMO captivates with their cute vocals and straightforward guitar sound.

Released in 2018, this song is a youthful anthem that was also used in a Calpis Water commercial.
