Gospellers’ Famous and Popular Songs (21–30)
A Gift of SongGosuperāzu

An 80s pop number by Gosperats, a vocal group formed by Gospellers members Sakai and Murakami together with their great seniors from Rats & Star—Suzuki, Kuwano, and Sato.
Following the old Rats & Star style, Sakai and Murakami also wore blackface, which some thought might reignite that social issue, but there was no particular outcry.
They have continued to perform intermittently, seemingly having fun, in 2006 and 2015.
Recycle LoveGosuperāzu

One of the tracks from their 48th single released in 2016.
It’s a double A-side with “GOSWING.” As you can clearly see in the music video, the standout feature is the use of a looper for multi-layered recording.
This lets you feel vocal layers that go beyond the number of members.
It should’ve been me (that loved you)Gosuperāzu

This is a track included on the seventh album, “FRENZY.” As the title suggests, it’s a love song—one that soothes with its gentle melody and vocals.
It has the vibe of a calm, mature piece, the kind you might hear playing in a stylish café.
RobinsonGosuperāzu

When it’s a cappella, a song shows a different expression, doesn’t it? For some reason, “Robinson,” a song that tugs at people’s hearts, has been covered by The Gospellers.
Their five-part harmony is beautiful, but the chorus is especially striking.
Whether it’s because there are fewer notes or because of the way a cappella conveys emotion, it feels like the song’s poignancy is brought out even more.
Let it shineGosuperāzu
This song was selected as the ending theme for the overseas drama “Timeless.” It’s a track that showcases the uniquely subtle melodies characteristic of The Gospellers.
The video has been available on YouTube since March 1, 2017, and even though it’s only about a minute long, the song and the teaser already make your heart race with anticipation.
FIVE KEYSGosuperāzu

The lyrics rhyme, and the backing track is sharp and cool.
In any case, the live footage is insanely entertaining—especially the first four minutes, which are a must-see.
The way the atmosphere becomes totally different from the studio version—with towel-spinning and call-and-response—left a strong impression.
It’s also breathtaking how the backing musicians can lock in perfectly to Murakami’s cues.
SAYONARAGosuperāzu

It’s a song where each member’s vocal ability really shines.
They deliver an adult love story with a moody touch.
The beauty of the harmonies adds depth to the track and intensifies its sense of heartache—it might be a song that gently stays by the side of someone who’s suffered a devastating breakup.
The final lyrics are dramatic, too.
