Baby handprints, the big handprint on a sumo wrestler’s autographed card—just the idea of a “handprint” alone feels warm and special, doesn’t it? Even the word “teate” (meaning both a cash allowance and literally ‘hand treatment’) gives the impression that hands have a mysterious power.

So how about leaving everyone’s handprints from the class on the blackboard? It’s fun even for people who can’t draw, and it’s great for classes that don’t have much time to spend on drawing.

After you make the handprints, slightly softening the outline is the trick to enhancing that handprint vibe.

Flowing cherry blossom petals

I drew cherry blossom petals 🌸 In March, we surprised the graduates with chalkboard art! Congratulations on your graduation 🌸#Everyone'sGraduationCeremonyBlackboard artGraduation CeremonySurprise#art

Babbling Brook -15- – Nature Sound

Cherry blossoms have become an indispensable flower for graduation scenes.

They’re also a popular motif for chalkboard art.

Still, some of you may want to portray cherry blossoms from a different angle rather than the classic cherry tree or petals swirling in the wind.

That’s why I’d like to introduce hanaikada.

Hanaikada refers to cherry blossoms floating on the water’s surface, a scene loved for its refined beauty.

Since chalk can be smudged to create a soft texture, why not treat the entire blackboard as the water’s surface and draw the flow of water with drifting cherry blossoms?

bouquet

ASMR! Do you like the sound of chalk? Blackboard art you can use for graduations and birthdays! This time, how to draw a bouquet. An easy, useful idea!Blackboard artChalk ArtGraduationBirthdayBouquetHappy birthday!https://youtube.com/shorts/9dFHiUCbfIg?si=IKo3FPVdpTjYu8T4

At celebratory occasions, bouquets are often given to express gratitude and brighten the atmosphere.

Why not incorporate a bouquet as a motif for chalkboard art? Start by drawing the flowers, then add color and blend it toward the center to create a three-dimensional effect.

Represent the stamens with small yellow circles, and add leaves in green.

Once the flowers are complete, finish by drawing an inverted triangle and a ribbon below.

How about everyone working together to create a large bouquet? Adding words of thanks, such as “Thank you for everything,” is also recommended.

Rainbow, staff lines, and soap bubbles

@asamichalkartat

Everyone can draw it! Chalkboard art that creates lasting memories! Instead of something difficult, make striking chalkboard art by combining simple elements! If you want a bright and cute impression, how about a design composed of a rainbow, a musical staff, and soap bubbles? A seven-colored rainbow stretches between two large clouds, and below it is a staff that says “Arigatou” instead of musical notes, with soap bubbles floating around it.

It’s also lovely that the class number is expressed as fluffy clouds.

After drawing the clouds and bubbles, rub them gently with your fingers to blur them and create texture and a sense of depth.

Doing so will make the rainbow and the staff stand out even more.

train

Back when airplanes weren’t as easy and accessible as they are now, trains were the main way to travel long distances.

Tokyo Station held memories of departures and arrivals, and Shin-Osaka Station of setting out and farewells—stations were often important stages for the dramas of our lives.

So how about drawing a picture of a train for graduation day—the day of setting off—and using it to see off your classmates and underclassmen? A painting of a train moving on as if reluctant to part, set against a spring scene with cherry blossoms dancing in the air, would surely be deeply moving.

I also think a composition where your classmates’ faces can be seen through the train windows would be wonderful.

Reflected in the large, prominently drawn eye is the familiar view of the classroom.

Graduation day is when the scenery you took for granted every day stops being ordinary.

The blackboard, the teacher’s podium, the class goals displayed above the board.

To imprint it on your memory one last time, try drawing on the blackboard the scene reflected in your eye.

Depicting the image captured in an eyeball is more difficult than drawing the scene as it is and requires technique.

But surely, your classmates who see it will never forget the classroom.

whale

Graduation Surprise: Blackboard Art
whale

How about drawing a whale on a big blackboard to celebrate the graduates—kids who have spent their school years in elementary, junior high, and high school and are now about to dive into the vast ocean of life? Cherry blossoms and classroom scenes are the classic motifs, but choosing a whale would be a surprising and memorable twist.

In a way, the new life that’s about to begin is like setting sail into a great ocean.

Let’s celebrate this new departure with the ocean’s largest creature—the whale!
