a cool guitar-vocal band

When it comes to guitar-vocals, it’s the star role in a rock band, right?

In this article, I’ll introduce bands with cool, recommended guitarists who also serve as the lead vocalist.

Whether you’re looking for bands where the guitarist sings, or you’re searching for songs to cover as a guitar-vocal yourself, this article is for you.

Watching someone sing with a guitar in hand is undeniably cool, but when it’s your turn to perform, you might think, “That seems hard…” and hesitate.

But there are actually songs that are easier than you’d expect!

First, let’s start by listening to a variety of songs from bands with guitar-vocalists.

Cool guitar-vocal bands (31–40)

ThunderRIZE

RIZE is a leading Japanese mixture rock band.

Since their debut, they’ve gone through several lineup changes, alternating between a three-piece and a four-piece.

When they’re a four-piece, they sometimes set aside the guitar, but vocalist JESSE basically takes the guitar-vocal role.

The thick, powerful RIZE sound wouldn’t exist without his guitar.

And watching him deliver solid rap while playing guitar is electrifying, isn’t it?

lighterWOMCADOLE

Formed in 2011, this four-piece band released their nationally distributed CD “Watashi no Hanashi” in 2015.

They made their major debut in 2019 with the album “Reimei Plumeria.” Lead vocalist and guitarist Yuki Higuchi sings with a voice drawn from their whole body, amplifying the band’s intensity.

It’s a band packed with qualities that make you want to experience them live rather than just listen to the recordings.

A-unPorukadotto Sutingurei

A four-piece band with a female vocalist whose catchphrase is “A scheming, supernatural, high-collar guitar rock band from Fukuoka Prefecture.” The band’s sole woman, Shizuku, handles guitar and vocals.

Her cute appearance may draw you in, but what truly captivates is her distinctive, rock-infused voice that transcends her looks.

You can’t help but be pulled in by her vocals and guitar playing, which stand strong against the powerful sound produced by the male band members.

Love SongGO!GO!7188

A three-piece mixed-gender band formed in 1998 that made their major debut in 2000 with the single “Taiyo.” The band disbanded in 2012 when guitarist-vocalist Yuu decided to leave.

From slow-tempo tracks to uplifting anthems that fire up live shows, Yuu’s vocals—sung with a unique worldview—were a major draw of the band.

Yuu also had an expressive style that makes you want to try playing their songs, but proves surprisingly difficult when you actually attempt it.

Hello Fixer10-FEET

Since their formation, the three-piece rock band 10-FEET has kept running without any member changes.

TAKUMA, who handles guitar and vocals, brings songs to life with rich expression, switching among a variety of vocal tones.

Their tracks, which incorporate a range of genres, are highly engaging, yet their enduring appeal lies in how they still convey a solid rock spirit and warmth throughout.

The girls’ rock band yonige performs with Arisa Ushimaru, the guitarist and vocalist, as their frontwoman.

Their lyrics cover a wide range of themes—from everyday happenings to more abstract topics—resonating strongly with young listeners.

Lately, their songs and vocals have an easygoing vibe that really stands out.

The slightly husky tone of the vocals is also part of their charm and makes them very easy on the ears!

Sambomaster’s irresistibly hot-blooded and cool performances are their biggest draw! One person who embodies that fiery spirit is Takashi Yamaguchi, the band’s guitarist and vocalist.

He’s not just intense—Yamaguchi’s charm lies in a singing voice and performance overflowing with the fundamental warmth of humanity.

Their 2010 release “Dekikkonai wo Yaranakucha” gained attention for their collaboration with the Fukui Commercial High School cheer dance team, JETS.
