Horror Movies to Watch on Halloween! From Truly Terrifying to Laugh-Out-Loud Comedies (61–70)
Pay the Ghost: Halloween SacrificeUli Edel

What would you do if your child—the most important person in the world to you—suddenly vanished? Starring the universally beloved Nicolas Cage, Pay the Ghost is a classic horror film set around Halloween.
The protagonist is enjoying Halloween with his beloved son when, in the middle of the festivities, the boy—whose hand he was holding—suddenly says, “Daddy, will you pay the ghost?” and then mysteriously disappears.
The father continues to search for his son, who has yet to be found.
Braving a series of supernatural occurrences, he unravels the mystery behind the words his son spoke just before he disappeared.
The Return of the Living DeadDan O'Bannon

This work is a horror movie released in 1985 that also incorporates comedic elements.
It’s a parody of Night of the Living Dead and is one of the funnier entries in the zombie genre.
Rather than being scary, it leaves a strong impression of being entertaining, so I recommend it for those new to horror films!
ZombielandRuben Fleischer

For Halloween, horror movies with comedic elements suit the vibe better than truly terrifying ones, don’t they? That’s why I recommend Zombieland, released in 2009.
It’s a hugely popular film that became the highest-grossing zombie movie in U.S.
history.
The story follows an agoraphobic young man, a tough gunslinger, and a pair of con-artist sisters—an outrageously quirky cast—who fight zombies by following 32 rules.
Just the premise alone is exciting; it’s a fun zombie movie through and through.
Dark ShadowTim Burton

A film released in 2012.
It’s not exactly a full-on horror movie, but the protagonist, Barnabas Collins—played by Johnny Depp—is a vampire.
After being turned into a vampire and imprisoned for 200 years, he is resurrected and sets out to restore his family line.
The characters’ determined efforts are really cool, so it’s a film I highly recommend!
Goosebumps: Haunted HalloweenRobert Lawrence Stine

How about the horror movie Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, where two boys stumble upon a mysterious book and a ventriloquist dummy, and by touching them, unleash sealed monsters that run rampant through the town? Released in the United States in 2018, it features plenty of familiar Halloween creatures, just like the title suggests.
It’s also recommended to watch the previous film, Goosebumps, which is known in Japan as ‘Monster and the Secret Book,’ together with this one!
IT: Chapter Two — When you see “It,” it’s over.Andy Muschietti

A masterpiece by horror legend Stephen King, IT.
It’s a classic of the genre that depicts a group of boys battling the clown Pennywise.
While Part 1 was adapted in 1990 and Part 2, set 27 years later, was also brought to the screen, a new remake has been produced.
The work introduced here is the 2019 remake of Part 2, IT: Chapter Two.
Twenty-seven years after defeating Pennywise, strange incidents begin occurring in the town once more.
One of the boys who remained in the town summons his friends, and they take on their final battle against Pennywise.
Even from this trailer, you can feel the film’s strangeness and terror!
Hocus pocusKenny Ortega

It’s the story of a group of kids and the three witch sisters who chase them—the Halloween movie Hocus Pocus.
Released in 1993, it was directed by Kenny Ortega, who also worked on the documentary Michael Jackson’s This Is It.
It’s a slapstick comedy centered on a witches’ curse, with more laugh-out-loud moments than scares.
Adults might find themselves thinking, “So this is what ’90s movies felt like…” If you’re looking for something easygoing and light, definitely give this a watch!
