Nezuko

Nezuko, the younger sister of Tanjiro Kamado, the protagonist of the popular anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, is also a beloved character.
Although Nezuko isn’t a member of the Demon Slayer Corps and doesn’t wear the checkered uniform, her obi actually features a checkered pattern—perhaps a sign that, despite differences in status and role, their hearts remain connected.
The pattern on Nezuko’s kimono is the hemp leaf motif.
Since the Edo period, the hemp leaf pattern has reportedly been used on children’s kimonos as a charm to ward off evil and misfortune.
Rewatching the anime with this bit of knowledge makes it all the more moving.
As a popular character, there are many different cosplay costumes available for her.
Dr. Slump Arale-chan

Based on the manga Dr.
Slump, the anime Dr.
Slump: Arale-chan aired from April 1981 to February 1986.
Although the anime itself is an older work, it drew renewed attention in 2016 when Ayami Nakajo portrayed Arale-chan in a live-action role for a GU commercial.
The character’s distinctive large round glasses create a very cute vibe, making it a great costume idea for girls.
ghost

If you’re going for a classic Halloween costume, a ghost is the way to go! A white-sheet ghost that sways as you move has that Western vibe and is super cute.
You can buy ready-made ones, but it’s also easy to make your own! When you DIY, you can choose any fabric color you like and tailor it to your child’s size, so there’s no worry about them stepping on the hem.
It’s a great costume for both boys and girls!
Woody

When it comes to cowboy costumes, Toy Story’s Woody is the go-to! A yellow checkered shirt and a cowboy hat are sure to catch everyone’s eye.
Since there are lots of accessories like a belt and a scarf, this costume is better suited for older kids than tiny babies.
The cow-print vest and gold buckle are super cool! Let’s go all-in and become an adorable cowboy!
jiangshi (Chinese hopping vampire)

Originally, jiangshi are zombies from Chinese folklore—slightly scary “ghosts” that hop toward you with bodies stiff from rigor mortis.
However, because they looked a bit cute in movies and such, cosplay and homages became a craze in the ’80s.
In the footage, they’re wearing a scary mask, but the original look features white face paint with rosy cheeks.
This makeup is also cute, and it has recently seen a revival as women incorporate it into cosplay on social media.
Kids can do it too as long as you prepare a costume, so give it a try together as a parent and child!
Duffy

If you’re dressing up, you can’t leave out Disney characters, right? This Duffy costume is a fluffy, full-body suit and it’s super cute.
Put on the hood and your child transforms into Duffy! There’s a Mickey mark on the bottom, making the back view just as charming.
The zipper makes it easy to put on and take off, too.
It’s warm enough for the chilly Halloween season, so moms can feel at ease.
Chucky

This is a cosplay of Chucky, the doll from the horror movie Child’s Play.
He may look cute and small, but he’s actually very scary—perfect for a child’s costume.
As a protective charm, it seems like it would do the job perfectly.
