A heart that opens message card

Simple and easy: Opening Heart [How to make a message card]
A heart that opens message card

Would you like to make a heart-shaped message card? First, prepare a square sheet of origami paper or construction paper.

Fold it twice into a rectangle (creating two square-to-rectangle folds) and twice into a triangle to make crease lines that form a plus sign and an X.

Once the creases are made, place the paper in a diamond orientation, valley-fold the horizontal crease in the center, and collapse the paper into a small square.

Next, use the creases to fold it into a triangle.

Draw half of a heart shape, leaving the center of the paper intact, and cut along the line with scissors.

Unfold the paper back to the step before it was folded into a triangle, and you’ll see it has become a heart shape.

If you want to keep the heart shape intact, make a ring from a thin strip of construction paper and slide it over the top part of the heart.

This cute card makes a big impact with its fluffy, puffy heart.

It’s great to use fuzzy yarn you can find at 100-yen shops or similar stores.

First, cut a large heart shape out of construction paper.

Next, cut the yarn into small pieces.

Then, decorate by sticking small hearts around the outline of the big heart or drawing patterns.

Finally, spread glue in the center of the heart and attach the cut yarn pieces.

If the child can use scissors, it’s nice to work together from the very beginning!

Here’s an idea for a “pop-out chocolate card” made especially for a long-popular chocolate treat! You can adapt this idea for other products by changing the size, so give it a try if you like.

We’ll make it in two parts: the card base and the pop-up mechanism.

For the card, just fold a rectangular sheet of construction paper in half.

The mechanism is simple too—just create a stand that lets the chocolate stand upright.

Prepare construction paper in your favorite colors and give it a go.

Decorating with patterned origami or stickers is also recommended!

A “pixel-art-style 3D card” is a great gift for someone who loves games or 3D puzzles.

It might be best for those who are good with their hands, but if you want to give a truly original Valentine’s card unlike any other, give it a try! The process is simple: print the template onto construction paper, then make the cuts and score the fold lines as indicated.

Finally, fold it together to create the 3D shape, and you’re done! Add some decorations or include a message before you give it.

The heart’s color changes in an instant! Here’s how to make a fun Valentine’s Day card.

First, use a craft punch or similar tool to cut a heart shape out of the center of a square sheet of colored paper.

Take another piece of colored paper large enough to overlap and cover the heart area, align it with the left and right edges, and staple it in place.

Color the heart area with colored pencils or similar.

Then swap the top and bottom of the overlapping piece, and color the heart area again with a different color.

If you flick each end one at a time, the colors will appear alternately.

Add your favorite decorations to the card, and you’re done!

Chocolate Valentine's card

I’m going to show you how to make a chocolate-themed Valentine’s card using materials from a 100-yen shop.

First, fold a brown 10×8 sheet of construction paper in half to make a rectangle.

Cut origami paper into 2.5-wide strips and wrap it to match the width of the construction paper, then apply double-sided tape along one long edge.

Attach a 1.5-wide strip of aluminum foil to the double-sided tape.

Fold it into a tube.

Next, on the brown construction paper, glue small brown rectangles sized 2.5×1.5 in a chocolate-bar pattern.

Now you have a chocolate bar.

Add googly eyes (round stickers) and decorate the body however you like.

Write your message with a pen, tuck it into the origami wrap, and you’re done!

Here’s an idea for a heart-shaped origami message card that opens like a little book.

First, fold a sheet of origami paper into a triangle three times.

Once folded, draw half of a heart along the folds, leaving the corner that is the center of the paper intact, then cut along the line and open it up.

Fold it in half along the main crease, then use the remaining creases to alternate valley and mountain folds to collapse it into a heart-shaped booklet.

Finally, write your message on the inner pages, and you’re done! It’s very easy and turns out super cute, so give it a try!
