Challenging Rubber Band Magic! A roundup of amazing tricks worth remembering (11–20)
Playing card catch magic using a rubber band

The rubber band playing card catch magic trick is pretty challenging! But once you get the hang of it, you’ll definitely be able to perform it.
Using the elasticity of the rubber band to catch a card in midair is sure to astonish your audience.
It’s a different flavor from vanish or penetration effects—a skillful move that really showcases dexterity.
Another perk is that you can perform it casually almost anywhere.
Give it a try!
A rubber band crossing the finger

This is a magic trick where you hold your other hand over a rubber band wrapped around your finger, cast a spell, and it instantly jumps to a different finger.
What looks like a rubber band around your finger is actually an arched wire made to resemble a band, open at the back so you can switch it to another finger at the moment you cover it with your hand.
The most important thing is convincing the audience that the wire is a rubber band, so be very deliberate about retrieving and swapping after you appear to wrap the rubber band.
A recommended approach is to pretend you’re transferring a rubber band wrapped around one hand to the other, and use that moment to switch it with the wire piece.
A magic trick where a bill passes through a rubber band

The rubber band slipping off a banknote looks like a difficult magic trick, but it’s actually very simple—so give it a try! Prepare one bill, fold it in half vertically, then fold it down toward yourself to make it quarter size.
When folding toward yourself, make that fold slightly short.
Fold a small section of the top edge backward to create a spot to hook the rubber band.
When you loop the rubber band over the folded part, it looks from the front as if the bill is securely caught on the rubber band.
Then, when you pull the bill downward, it appears to pass right through! It’s a simple yet mysterious trick—be sure to show it off!
appearing rubber band

This is a magic trick where a rubber band suddenly appears in an empty hand.
All you need is one hand and a single rubber band.
First, hook the rubber band over your thumb, index finger, and middle finger.
Then pinch the palm-side strand, wrap it from underneath over to the back of your hand, and clamp it in place with your thumb.
In that position, the rubber band is still visible from the front, so bend your ring and little fingers, or slide the rubber band down to your wrist and hide it under your sleeve to keep it out of sight.
After that, simply release your thumb, and it will look like the rubber band suddenly appeared.
Since rubber bands are thin, use a bright color like pink or green instead of a standard color.
Pen and Rubber Band Penetration Magic

Because it’s so simple, this rubber band penetration trick looks truly mysterious—want to give it a try? First, have your spectators check that the pen and the rubber band are ordinary.
Make sure they examine them in the order of rubber band first, then pen; while they’re checking the pen, set up the rubber band.
Hook the rubber band onto the ring fingers of both hands, then from below catch the band with your right thumb.
Hold the stretched section in place with your ring finger, pass your thumb through the loop, and do the same with your middle finger.
If, from the front, it looks like the rubber band is only around your ring fingers, the setup is complete.
To perform, hold the pen with your right thumb and left index finger.
Rest the band on the pen; when you release your middle finger, the band appears to slip inside the loop, and when you release your ring finger, it looks as if the pen has penetrated straight through!
A magic trick where a ring moves along a rubber band

This is a surefire magic trick that will amaze people: a ring moves along a rubber band.
Start by placing a rubber band through the ring, then hook both index fingers into the rubber band.
Put the second band over your ring finger.
From here, use both hands to hold the bands with cat’s cradle–like movements.
Hook your pinkies under the second rubber band from the bottom to hold it, put your ring fingers inside the loop, and rest your middle fingers on top of the rubber band.
While pinching the band with your ring and middle fingers, move your hands downward and release your pinkies.
Once you slip your index fingers into the topmost loop, the setup is complete.
When performing, remove the rubber bands from your middle fingers one by one, then pull out your index and middle fingers—this makes the ring climb upward along the band.
The setup is tricky, but once you get used to it, you can show it off easily!
