A track released by DECO*27 in July 2022, featuring Hatsune Miku and VTuber Kureiji Ollie on chorus.

Despite its bittersweet premise—where the protagonist has died, become a zombie with a silent heart, yet continues to harbor undying feelings of love—the song delivers a catchy sound that fuses a lively dance beat with psychedelic trance elements.

The love portrayed through the extraordinary motif of a zombie perfectly captures a Halloween-like atmosphere.

It’s a highly recommended number that’s perfect not only for amping up a costume party but also as background music for a home gathering!

This is an anime tie-in song by the visual-kei band -Shintenchi Kaibyaku Shudan- ZIGZAG, unleashing a Japanese-style heavy rock sound.

Written specifically as the opening theme for the anime Hell Teacher Nūbē in July 2025, it was released as a single in August of the same year.

From the opening that fuses weighty guitar riffs with traditional Japanese arrangements, the structure builds through the shout of “Akuryō taisan!” (“Begone, evil spirits!”) into a sweeping final chorus—truly spectacular.

The lyrics, themed around courage and kindness, mesh perfectly with the series’ world of exorcising evil spirits.

Peaking at No.

13 on the Oricon charts, this track is perfect for karaoke when you want to amplify a mysterious Halloween vibe.

If you shout “Akuryō taisan!” together with your friends, the whole place is sure to come alive!

This dance tune, created by a collaboration between the prince of enka and a master of techno-pop, is a perfect Halloween monster song.

Told from the perspective of yokai, it depicts a world that embraces being true to yourself, mirroring the spirit of Halloween where you dress up and enjoy another side of who you are.

Blending high-speed rap with techno sounds, this groundbreaking track has also been selected as the ending theme for the anime “GeGeGe no Kitaro: The Generations of GeGeGe I Loved,” airing from April 2025.

How about singing it at karaoke with friends in yokai cosplay and dancing your hearts out? The music video, featuring intense dance performances, will boost the party mood too.

Bad Monsterurashimasakatasen

Released in October 2020 as the fifth installment in the Halloween song series, this track was written, composed, and arranged by Umetora, a creator active in the Vocaloid scene.

Within lyrics that unfold a dark and slightly mysterious worldview, the captivating voices of the four members intertwine to create a wickedly cool atmosphere.

The sound—fusing electronic effects with a catchy melody—makes it perfect as BGM for a Halloween party! It’s also great for costume parties or any gathering with a spooky vibe.

This is the theme song for the anime GeGeGe no Kitaro, the signature work of Shigeru Mizuki, who created numerous masterpieces as a leading figure in yokai manga.

Sung by Kazuo Kumakura, who was also active as an actor and director, the song has been covered over the years by many artists, including Ikuzo Yoshi, Shigeru Izumiya, the band Yukadan, and Kiyoshi Hikawa.

With its unsettling, chromatic melody and the yokai appearing in the opening sequence, children likely watched from in front of their TVs both scared and excited.

It’s the number that most readily comes to mind when you think of ghosts and yokai.

Gera Gera Po SongKingu Kurīmusōda

This is the debut single by the three-member music unit King Cream Soda, used as the opening theme for the TV anime Yo-kai Watch, which is based on a video game.

Together with the anime—whose popularity among children grew into a social phenomenon—the song became a major hit.

Its rich composition blends three genres that each member excels in: rock, rap, and folk-style melodies, making it engaging and less likely to bore children.

It stands as a representative work of songs about “new-era” spirits.

ghostKumiko

Have you ever seen a ghost? In “Ghost,” sung by Kumiko, the song depicts the fear of something faintly visible and incomprehensible—most likely a ghost.

If you listen to it after watching a horror movie or visiting a haunted house, you might not be able to spend the night alone! Released in 2002, the song is memorable for its melody and Kumiko’s vocals, whose beauty only heightens the sense of dread.

The lyrics skillfully portray those uncanny scenes that make you think, “What was that?”—something many of us have experienced—and they send shivers down your spine.

Be careful when listening alone at night!
