He debuted in 1978 and went on to release a string of hits, including “Junrenka,” “Junko,” “Yuji,” “Kampai,” and “Tonbo.” His greatest appeal lies in his husky, powerful voice.
Coupled with lyrics rooted in sharp insights into the human condition and society, he opened up new horizons for Japanese rock and folk music.
