JUDY AND MARY’s famous and popular songs

Let me introduce some songs by JUDY AND MARY (often affectionately called “Judy Mari”), a rock band beloved by many.

Speaking of Judy Mari, they’re also well known for having YUKI—who has a successful solo career—as their vocalist.

Formed in 1991, they were one of the most popular bands representing the ’90s, but sadly disbanded in 2001.

One of Judy Mari’s biggest charms is, of course, YUKI’s voice—you can tell it’s her after just a few notes.

Her uniquely distinctive vocals are incredibly captivating.

As for the origin of the band’s name, it’s said to represent two girls: “Judy,” who is cheerful and positive, and “Mary,” who is a bit twisted and negative.

The duality fits YUKI, which is why the name was chosen.

Knowing this background might help you appreciate Judy Mari’s music on a deeper level.

Irodori no SekaiJUDY AND MARY

This is a single released by JUDY AND MARY in 1998.

Although they disbanded in 2001, they’re still a band with many fans.

The song is sprinkled with words that evoke autumn, making it a very emotional track.

It’s a highly recommended song for the fall.

It’s included on their first album, “J.A.M.” It’s a mid-tempo track with a slightly mature vibe.

The stylish, pop-leaning rock sound is brought to life by YUKI’s cute yet eccentric vocals.

It was included along with “DAY DREAM” as the third single.

It was the first song that guitarist TAKUYA composed for JUDY AND MARY.

With its edgy sound and tricky guitar work, it’s a track that’s quintessentially TAKUYA.

JUDY IS A T∀NK GIRLJUDY AND MARY

The first track on the debut album “J.A.M.” It’s pure punk.

The first album clearly reflects the band concept of Kaichiro Onda, the leader of JUDY AND MARY.

Personally, I liked this direction too, so I would have loved to hear more punkish songs.

The B-side to the second single, “BLUE TEARS.” A simple rock ’n’ roll number, which is rare for Judy and Mary.

It’s nice to have a universally catchy groove like this once in a while.

It’s amazing how even classic rock can sound this cute when YUKI sings it.

POP STARJUDY AND MARY

It is included on the second album, ORANGE SUNSHINE.

It opens with an intro featuring a distinctive, edgy guitar tone that’s so characteristic of TAKUYA.

The melody is catchy, making it a very easy-listening track.

POWER OF LOVEJUDY AND MARY

It’s their debut single: a simple punk rock number reminiscent of THE BLUE HEARTS.

Singing lyrics that evoke a surreal and mysterious worldview, vocalist YUKI’s cute voice and looks left a vivid impression on music fans at the time.
