Authentic morning glory made with five sheets of origami

Let’s make a beautiful three-dimensional morning glory! You’ll use five sheets of origami to create one bloom, so the difficulty may be a bit high.
Make five parts, then assemble and glue them together.
To prevent the glue from coming off, it’s a good idea to hold the pieces in place with clips or clothespins as you work.
For the finishing touch, slightly fold the rim to give the morning glory a 3D look.
You can also change the size of the sheets to make morning glories in different sizes—give it a try!
SUMMER Garland

This SUMMER garland will instantly brighten up any room with a lively vibe! It’s also great as a wall decoration at home or in senior care facilities, so give it a try.
First, attach a half-cut piece of brown origami paper to the center of a yellow-toned sheet.
Make two identical pieces, accordion-fold each one, and connect them.
While folded, round off both ends with scissors, tie a string at the center, open it into a circle, and secure the two seams with clips or glue—and you’re done! You can also have fun customizing it by adding not only sunflower blooms but also leaves and other summery motifs.
Morning glory curtain

Would you like to recreate a morning glory curtain that decorates a summer veranda using origami? The more you make, the more gorgeous the wall display will become, so try creating it to match the size of your space and walls, and the mood of your room.
You make the morning glory flowers by folding origami paper, rounding the edges with scissors, and then opening it up.
Make the leaves and vines by cutting construction paper, too.
The base is made by gluing together strips cut from construction paper.
Arrange the vines, leaves, and morning glory flowers on this base.
If you let some parts extend slightly beyond the edges when you glue them, it will look more realistic.
It would also be lovely to create a large piece together with seniors at a day service center.
Morning glory wall decoration

Do you know the hugely popular TV show “Prebat!!”? It’s so much fun to watch celebrities take on challenges like watercolor painting and haiku.
“Prebat!!” really values a sense of the seasons.
In that spirit, how about making seasonal flowers—like morning glories and sunflowers—out of paper to decorate your walls this time? Just by changing the type of paper—washi, colored paper, and so on—the finished look will change as well.
If you make flowers with white shoji paper, you can also enjoy painting them with pigments.
Simply displaying them on a plain wall or in a hallway will add vibrant color!
lantern

The Tanabata season, when you can feel the beginning of summer, is also when festivals start to pop up.
How about making lanterns—an essential part of summer festivals—and incorporating them into your decorations? You can easily create a lantern by rolling a sheet of construction paper into a cylinder after making a slit down the middle, then shaping it.
Encourage originality through choices like color and top-and-bottom embellishments, so you can nurture not only hand coordination but also creativity.
A row of unique lanterns will lift everyone’s spirits for Tanabata and the summer ahead.

panda

Speaking of Tanabata, it’s customary to decorate bamboo branches with tanzaku slips bearing written wishes.
And when you think of bamboo, it’s the classic food of pandas.
Based on that association, how about incorporating pandas into your Tanabata decorations? They’re beloved across generations, so it’s an easy way to add simple cuteness.
Because this craft is as simple as assembling cut-out parts, the most important thing is arranging the pieces with a good sense of balance.
It could also be fun to depict a scene where a panda, holding bamboo adorned with tanzaku, hesitates to eat it.
Summer wall decoration

A summer-themed wall display lets you feel the season and brightens the mood, doesn’t it? This is a wall art project that’s easy for seniors to make, too.
How about a design with sunflowers stretching energetically up toward the blue sky? For the sunflower blossoms, tissue paper or colored paper works well.
For the stems and leaves, crumple paper into a ball, open it up, and cut it into shape after giving it a wrinkled texture—this brings out a natural, plant-like feel! Using materials like crepe sheets that already have a wrinkled texture makes it easy, so give it a try.
Adding clouds, the sun, and summer insects will make the display look even more charming!
