Easy-to-sing youth songs for karaoke: recommended classics and popular hits

Shouting “Bakayaro!” toward the sea is a classic scene in coming-of-age dramas.

You might quip, “Nobody actually does that,” but whether you’re young—or even as you get older—there are times when you just want to yell at the top of your lungs.

That said, not many people have a conveniently located (?) beach nearby, so why not blow off steam with some coming-of-age songs at karaoke instead.

Youthful songs that are easy to sing at karaoke: Recommended classics and popular tracks (1–10)

-ness; typicality; the quality/essence of being [X] (as in “X-ness” or “X-like character”)SUPER BEAVER

This is a classic song by SUPER BEAVER, whose straightforward, passionate messages in both their lyrics and MCs have earned strong support from young people.

It’s also famous as an anime theme song, but the direct lyrics that ask “What does it mean to be myself?”—echoing the band’s own tumultuous journey—really hit home.

Samurai Heart (Some Like It Hot!!)SPYAIR

SPYAIR “Samurai Heart (Some Like It Hot!!)”
Samurai Heart (Some Like It Hot!!)SPYAIR

This is the song that boosted SPYAIR’s popularity as the theme for a massively popular Jump anime.

Once the tie-in was confirmed, the original track—initially made for an album—was rearranged for the release.

Its clever wordplay and positive, powerful lyrics are a major draw.

It’s also a live favorite, where fans can swing their towels and get fired up.

Spring Dayaimyon

Aimyon – Harunohi [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]
Spring Dayaimyon

Among Aimyon’s songs, “Harunohi” is particularly easy to sing in the original key.

I even had a male student who tackled it in the original key! The song itself is a bit long at about five and a half minutes, and once the singing starts it’s nonstop, but it’s widely known across all ages and genders, so it works well for karaoke.

That nonstop singing part can be a bit tough.

If you’re mindful of your breath timing and where to place accents, it becomes easier to sing without running out of breath.

Also, since the structure builds sequentially—A verse → B verse → chorus—it’s important to consciously add a little more energy to each phrase.

Right before the chorus, the high notes are the key: imagine sprinting up a staircase and project your voice firmly.

Give it a try!

OrangeGReeeeN

This is a classic song released by GReeeeN in 2012 that captures a slice of sweet-and-sour youth.

It was featured in a deodorant commercial and became a hot topic.

With straightforward lyrics depicting youthful love, it’s a charming track that makes your heart ache—a true love song.

From Me to Youflumpool

From Me to Youflumpool

This flumpool song was chosen as the theme for a live-action film adaptation of a popular manga, earning widespread support.

It’s a refreshing love song that playfully portrays youthful romance and is sure to make your heart flutter.

Among flumpool’s tracks, this one has a relatively high-key chorus.

You are beautiful when in love.Kimi ga sou nara boku wa kou

Although it was released on June 7, 2015, the song has recently gained popularity through social media like TikTok and is ranking high on Spotify’s Viral Chart.

The artist is an Osaka-based “youthful, melodically heart-throbbing band” that creates songs incorporating elements of kayōkyoku and youth punk.

It’s highly recommended for fans of bands with that nostalgic Heisei-era vibe.

Also, since the vocal range isn’t very wide and most of the singing stays in the mid register, you’ll likely be able to enjoy it in the original key.

However, there are many sections with continuous lyrics, so breath control might be challenging.

If you avoid overly crisp articulation and let the melody flow naturally, you should be able to sing it well.
