[Wedding Ceremony & Reception] Performances and entertainment where children shine. Wonderful ideas (1–10)
ring bearer

The role assigned to boys corresponding to the flower girl, who purifies the aisle, is called the ring bearer.
It’s an important job of carrying the wedding rings.
Watching a small child walk down the aisle to deliver the rings to the bride and groom is truly adorable.
dance

When children dance their hearts out, it’s strangely moving and often brings tears to our eyes.
At weddings, performances by children are also a popular touch.
If everyone sings and dances for the bride and groom, it’s sure to make them happy.
Flower girl

The flower girl’s role is to scatter petals to purify the aisle before the bride and her father walk down it.
In Western Christian weddings, she is an important presence and almost always appears in an official capacity.
It’s common for girls around five to ten years old to take on this role.
Flag Boy

Have you heard of flag boys and flag girls—children who make an entrance holding a banner at weddings? It’s a classic, well-known performance overseas.
The children come in carrying a flag that says “Here comes the Bride.” It means “The bride and groom are about to enter,” and then the groom, followed by the bride, walks down the aisle.
It’s so adorable that everyone can’t help but smile and snap photos, making for a fun, crowd-pleasing moment.
My former student, as a celebration

This particular idea is limited to cases where either the groom or the bride is a teacher, but the students make a surprise appearance at the venue to celebrate the wedding.
The children will be delighted to see a different side of their usual teacher, and it’s likely to become a wonderful reception that creates lasting memories for both the teacher and the children.
Parent and child at the Honnō-ji Incident

Here is a video of us doing the rhythmic skit “Honnō-ji Incident,” which became popular thanks to a Yoshimoto-affiliated dancer’s performance, as a party act together with a child.
It’s even more entertaining and heartwarming when done as a parent-child duo than with two adults.
If you’re a parent with a child who’s good at dancing, we definitely recommend giving it a try.
Toast proposal

At weddings, there’s always the toast—leading the cheer, giving the shout, and offering a greeting.
You rev up the room with a congratulatory message to the bride and groom and a little anecdote, then wrap it up with a big “Kanpai!” You know the scene: an uncle from the family or a boss from work takes the stage.
But what if a child did it instead? Wouldn’t that be super cute and really get the crowd going? Even a formal greeting, when said by a child, is sure to be adorable, funny, and a definite crowd-pleaser!
