Korean dramas have grown in popularity and become widely beloved.

Each new release creates a buzz!

Titles like Crash Landing on You, Itaewon Class, and Extraordinary Attorney Woo have taken Netflix by storm.

Even those who don’t usually engage with K-culture have likely found themselves hooked.

In this article, we introduce not only memorable scenes from these dramas but also filming locations that captivate with their unique atmosphere and beautiful scenery.

Be sure to visit them when you travel to Korea!

That Year, We and Winter Sonata, etc.

Seoul Central High School

Winter Sonata, a trailblazer of the Korean drama boom.

The high school-era episodes of the two protagonists played by Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo were filmed at Seoul Jungang High School.

It’s an actual high school, but it’s specially opened to the public only for limited hours on weekends.

The area around the school is lined with shops selling goods for K-drama fans and eateries, so you can enjoy those as well.

By the way, it’s also a filming location for Our Beloved Summer, so fans of that series should definitely visit too!

Crash Landing on You

East Asia Digital Media Center

Many of you are probably thinking about touring the filming locations of the drama “Crash Landing on You.” There are numerous spots, but one that’s surprisingly little known is the Dong-A Digital Media Center.

It might not ring a bell, but it’s the glass-walled tower that appears in episode 11.

You can enter up to the building’s entrance area, and you can even check out the security gate featured in the show.

Since it’s within Seoul, it’s a perfect place to drop by if you have some extra time.

Goblin (Guardian: The Lonely and Great God), The Legend (The Story of the First King's Four Gods), etc.

Naju Video Theme Park

For fans of Korean dramas—especially historical ones—I highly recommend the Naju Image Theme Park.

It’s a theme park that recreates the streets of the Three Kingdoms era and is known as a filming location for many famous dramas.

There are too many to list, but Goblin, The Legend, and Jumong were all shot here.

In the park, you can not only stroll through the historical streets but also enjoy horseback riding and costume dress-up.

And don’t forget to take commemorative photos when you’re in costume!

Hospital Playlist

Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital (Yulje Hospital)

The drama Hospital Playlist portrays the daily lives of doctors.

Its main filming location was Yulje Hospital (Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital).

This is an actual, operating hospital, so please be careful not to cause any disruption when you visit.

Weekends are relatively less crowded, making it easier to look around.

The café that appears in the show is really open for business, so you can eat and drink there—be sure to stop by when you go.

By the way, aside from the café and lobby, areas like examination rooms were built as sets for filming.

East of Eden, Stranger (Secret Forest), and Hotel Del Luna

Hapcheon Image Theme Park

The Hapcheon Video Theme Park is a place where you can have fun while learning about history.

That’s because the park recreates the streets of Seoul from the 1920s to around the 1980s.

As a result, it’s been used as a filming location for many works set in various eras, appearing in productions such as East of Eden, Stranger, and Hotel Del Luna.

It was originally a set built for the film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War, so you can still see traces of that, like tanks parked here and there.

Giant, Love Rain, and so on

Suncheon Drama Film Set

For those who feel they have too many favorite shows, I’d like to recommend the Junten Drama Film Set.

It’s a rare spot where sets for all kinds of dramas have been built.

The grounds are divided into several zones, including places like Seoul Daldongnae, which recreates dense residential neighborhoods of 1970s Seoul.

This area was used for filming works such as Giant and Love Rain.

There are also zones themed around the bustling downtown of 1980s Seoul, so be sure to check them out.

Jewel in the Palace, Jumong, and so on.

Yongin Daejanggeum Park

Yongin Daejanggeum Park is one of the most popular tourist destinations.

It served as a filming location for series such as Jewel in the Palace, Jumong, and Queen Seondeok, and the scale of its buildings is truly extraordinary.

Among them, the lavish private residence of Choi Woo is especially famous as a photo spot.

The park also features Injeongjeon Hall, where BTS member SUGA filmed a music video, which is another major draw.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy taking commemorative photos with panels of drama characters throughout the park.
