Yes I amMAMAMOO

MAMAMOO debuted under RBW Entertainment in 2014.
When it comes to girl groups known for powerful vocals and expressive performances, many people immediately think of MAMAMOO.
The four members—Wheein, Hwasa, Solar, and Moonbyul—are also charming for their humor and individuality.
They break away from the typical girl group image of being merely “cute” or “pretty,” and instead feel approachable to both men and women.
In Korean, “mu” means radish, so their radish-shaped light stick—a clever play on the name—has earned lots of affection.
By the way, it’s also surprising that Hwasa, known for her sexy charm and vocal prowess, is the group’s youngest member, the maknae.
Red FlavorRed Velvet

They are a South Korean girl group that debuted in 2014 and has been steadily gaining popularity in Japan as well.
Red Velvet combines the pop sensibilities of their senior group Girls’ Generation with the experimental edge of f(x), characterized by many songs that are both forward-thinking in sound and easy to embrace.
NOBODY (Feat. MINO of WINNER)Blue.D

They’re a rookie singer from South Korea, but even before their official debut, they’ve already proven their talent by featuring with numerous Korean artists.
They’ve also collaborated across various scenes, leaving a strong impression on the Korean music landscape.
Their debut in Japan is still undecided, but they’re a highly anticipated act.
FEVERGFRIEND

Debuting in 2015, GFriend can be considered a quintessential girls’ idol group.
They have six members with great style and cute charm, and they’re known for having many pop idol songs.
In Korea, they’re called Yeojachingu—the Korean reading of “Girlfriend”—often shortened to Yeo-chin.
They debuted in the same year as TWICE.
Butterfly이달의 소녀(LOONA)

This is a group formed in 2016, consisting of 11 Korean members and 1 Chinese member.
In the early days, they adopted a very unusual approach by introducing a new member each month.
They also employed an unprecedented strategy by debuting in the reverse order of the norm—solo, unit, then group—so their future activities are something to really look forward to.
FANCYTwice

They’re a rapidly rising Korean idol group that debuted in 2014 and even performed at the Kōhaku Uta Gassen in 2017.
Many people may feel a sense of familiarity since members Momo, Mina, and Sana are from Japan.
Many of their songs incorporate the latest club music, so it’s fair to say they’re artists at the forefront of current trends.
BluemingIU

IU debuted in 2008 at the age of 15.
It’s almost unbelievable that she kept failing numerous auditions before her debut, given how popular she is now.
In Korea, she’s called the “Nation’s Little Sister,” and she’s loved by people of all genders and ages.
Her angelic voice, looks, and musical talent as a singer-songwriter are all perfect.
She’s also active as an actress.
By the way, “IU” combines “I” and “YOU,” meaning “you and I become one through music.”
BIM BAM BUMRocket Punch

They are a six-member idol group, including one Japanese member, that debuted in 2019.
Their group name reflects a desire to bring bright energy to everyday life through new music and performances.
Even shortly after their debut, they held a fan meeting in Korea and appeared at an event at Makuhari Messe in Japan, making them a group whose future activities are highly anticipated.
WorkaholicBOL4(볼빨간사춘기)

They are a South Korean duo consisting of Ahn Ji-young and Woo Ji-yoon.
In Japan, they are written as Akahō Shishunki (Red Cheeked Puberty), which is probably the name more familiar to many listeners there.
Their debut album topped numerous music charts, their songs have been used as drama theme songs, and they also performed at the opening ceremony of the PyeongChang Olympics.
Kill This LoveBLACKPINK

Debuting in 2016 under YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK—affectionately known as “Burupin” in Japanese—embodies YG’s hip-hop–based sound and trend-conscious concepts.
The four members bring it to life: rapper Jennie; rapper Lisa, who is also an outstanding dancer; Jisoo, who supports the group with solid vocals and a clean, cute idol charm; and Rosé.
They follow in the footsteps of their label seniors 2NE1, who long reigned at the top of K-pop girl groups.
They are a representative example of the “girl crush” style that blends cuteness with cool.
