Once moreMatsuyama Chiharu

Set to a beautiful bossa nova-style melody, “Once More” is a song Chiharu wrote for Yukari Ito.

As you’d expect from the songwriter and lyricist, she captures the landscape of a woman’s heart with delicate nuance.

Dawn is captivating from the very first bars of the prelude, and both the music and the lyrics are wonderful.

Chiharu Matsuyama went through great hardship: in his youth, his family struggled financially, and there were times when he had to sell natto to earn living expenses.

After graduating from high school, he also endured difficult periods making a living as a lighting operator for a strip show run by relatives and helping out at a small eatery.

These experiences became the origin of the masterpieces that Chiharu would later create.

As you know, Chiharu Matsuyama is that male singer.

In his cover of “Graduation Photograph,” he makes it his own right from the beginning.

In a good way, there’s no longer a trace of Yumi Arai.

Instead of a grand, sweeping ballad, Matsuyama’s gently and tenderly sung ballad is utterly mesmerizing.
