It’s exciting that you can make this with just one sheet of origami paper! Here’s a grasshopper idea to try.

Grasshoppers are known for living mainly in grasslands and fields, and for their incredible jumping power.

They can fly, but many children have probably seen grasshoppers mostly walking or hopping to get around.

This time, let’s make a grasshopper using a single sheet of origami.

All you need is light green origami paper.

Be sure to fold carefully, aligning the corners and edges precisely.

It’s just like a real bug cage! Let me share an idea for making and displaying a paper bug cage.

You’ll need light blue origami paper, yellow-green origami paper, scissors, glue, and a white pen.

This idea features making separate parts—the handle, lid, and basket—and then gluing them together.

When you assemble them, align the crease lines to stick them on straight.

You can also adjust the colors of the origami to match any bug cage you have at home or in the classroom.

We’re introducing how to fold a stylish spinning top that you can make with just three sheets of origami paper! It’s perfect for making and playing together with your child or friends.

You’ll create each part with the three sheets of paper and assemble them at the end.

There aren’t many difficult steps, and you won’t need glue or scissors, so kids can easily give it a try.

You can also freely customize it by changing the colors or adding patterned paper, letting you express your originality! It would make a delightful handmade gift from a child, too!

kashiwa mochi (rice cake wrapped in oak leaf)

Speaking of Children’s Day, more than carp streamers, it’s all about kashiwa mochi! Here’s the perfect origami for little food lovers: kashiwa mochi.

With the colored side facing up, crease the paper along the diagonal, then fold only the top corner down to the center.

Flip it over and fold the bottom corner up toward the middle of the top edge.

Open it once, then make a small fold at the bottom corner, and fold it back downward.

Fold upward along the lowest crease, turn it to the front and tidy up the shape.

Make a small slit to create the leaf’s pinch, and your kashiwa mochi is complete!

butterfly

[With a single sheet of origami!] Easy and cute butterfly folding for kids [with voice commentary] Origami Butterfly
butterfly

This is a very cute butterfly made from a single sheet of origami, featuring gracefully curved wing lines.

With the colored side facing up, make a cross-shaped crease, then fold the two bottom corners up to meet at the center.

Flip it over, fold the bottom tip up to the center, and then fold the bottom corners up so they meet at the center as well.

Turn it over, open out the lower triangular section, then flip it back again and fold the bottom edge up to align perfectly with the top edge.

Continue folding while adding multiple creases at the top to refine the shape, and your butterfly is complete! Try displaying it on a wall together with origami flowers and other decorations.

Let’s make a peace-symbol dove with origami! Fold the paper into a triangle and place it with the tip facing you.

Fold the base upward so the tip sticks out beyond the edge.

Lift the top layer and fold it back down, then fold the whole piece in half.

Use the small triangular part that sticks out as the head, and fold the large triangular section diagonally upward to form the wing.

Fold the tip of the face to make a small beak, and your flying dove is complete.

By offsetting the wing folds, you can create the look of flapping.

It’s also lovely to use origami with different colors and patterns to decorate like a rainbow.
