Shimada Naomichi
Born in 1985 in Tochigi Prefecture. Started playing trombone in high school and graduated from Showa University of Music Junior College and the vocational school Tokyo Music & Media Arts Shobi (now: Shobi Music College). Currently active with live performances leading his own Latin jazz unit Kiyoseción, as well as performing in backing bands for artists, recording, teaching trombone, and writing.

He has also honed his craft as a specialist in Latin music such as salsa, appearing as an opening act and more for the Japan tours of international Latin artists including LA-33, Yumuri, HERMANOS YAIPEN, Charanga Habanera, Victor Manuelle, and Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor. He also served as a backing band member during the Japan visits of Marcelo Villar (ex-Mayimbe), Juan Carlos “El Lobo de la Salsa” (ex-Adolescentes Orquesta), and N’Samble. From 2014 to 2015, he wrote a serialized column titled “Latin Music Course” for Circle, Japan’s first web magazine on music theory.
In 2016, formed the large-ensemble salsa band ORQUESTA REGULUS (Regulus).
