Halloween Castle

If you’re looking for ideas for Halloween wall decorations, how about a “Halloween Castle” that creates an elegant atmosphere? You can make it with just black and yellow construction paper, so it’s easy to try! Since you build it up by adding cut pieces of paper, the charm is that you can use small scraps and offcuts too.

It takes a little time, but it’s surprisingly simple—you just keep pasting the paper while keeping a sense of upward expansion.

It’s exciting to improvise and end up with a castle you like! It’s great not only for walls but also for decorating windows at home or in senior care facilities.

The video shows a girl version, but you could adapt it for a boy or even an animal.

It’s such a cute witch/wizard that making it together with your grandchild and displaying it on the wall for a Halloween party will create great memories! Give it a try for inspiration.

sweet potato

Many of you probably have memories of going sweet potato digging in kindergarten or elementary school.

Those autumn treats, sweet potatoes, are also great ideas for October wall decorations! Roll paper tightly into a cylinder and wrap it with reddish-purple construction paper.

If you crumple the paper first, you can realistically recreate the wrinkles of a sweet potato! It’s fun to make leaves, vines, and sweet potatoes in various sizes and display them together.

Older adults might enjoy making these while reminiscing about the times they went sweet potato digging.

hanging Halloween decorations

Here’s a hanging pumpkin decoration I recommend for anyone who wants to make a three-dimensional Halloween ornament.

Prepare one sheet of orange construction paper and cut it into strips about 1 cm wide.

Gather the strips together and punch holes at the top and bottom.

Thread them onto a chenille stem (pipe cleaner) with one end bent so it won’t slip off.

Twist the pipe cleaner at the point where the paper forms a half-circle, then fan the strips out and shape them into a pumpkin.

The pipe cleaner will be the vine, so curl it into spirals.

Attach facial features made from black construction paper, tie a thread to hang it, and you’re done!
