OKAMOTO’S hit and popular songs

Let me introduce some songs by OKAMOTO’S, a rock band highly regarded by hardcore music fans.

They’ve won popularity for their standout musicianship and cool tracks that channel punk and rock energy.

All the members go by the surname “Okamoto.” This is partly because they all admire Taro Okamoto, and partly as a nod to the RAMONES, who all used the same last name.

It’s also well-known that bassist Hama Okamoto is the eldest son of Masatoshi Hamada from the comedy duo Downtown.

Thanks to his exceptional skill, he’s active not only in OKAMOTO’S but also widely recognized as a bassist in other projects.

Now, please enjoy a selection of OKAMOTO’S tracks that resonate with hardcore music aficionados.

OKAMOTO’S discovered a new frontier in pop with Niji.

They’re often known as a rock band that doesn’t change chords much, but this track is distinctive for how the chords closely follow the melodic line.

It’s a song that’s sure to bring the house down live, with the audience fully swept up in the excitement!

From the very beginning, it’s a dance number where OKAMOTO’S signature groove explodes and pushes the tension to its peak.

The sensation of sounds flying at you from every direction is incredibly satisfying, so if you’re listening on CD or the like, be sure to enjoy it with headphones.

Dance With MeOKAMOTO’S

It’s said to be a song that carries quite a heavy meaning, incorporating the band OKAMOTO’S own internal struggles.

Various anecdotes have been shared by the members themselves—for instance, Shigeru Kishida of Quruli served as producer, had all the members write lyrics, and even made them perform in sync with choreography.

OKAMOTO’S is a four-piece rock band featuring Hama Okamoto on bass, the son of Masatoshi Hamada from Downtown.

Their fourth digital single, Young Japanese, used as the opening theme for the TV drama “Nao-chan wa Shougaku Sannensei,” makes an immediate impact with its opening bassline.

The backing, which incorporates slap, supports the track while asserting a distinct presence.

It’s a funky number that should be satisfying to play for bassists who are getting tired of sticking to root notes.

Give It AwayOKAMOTO’S

OKAMOTO’S – Give It Away ( Red Hot Chili Peppers Cover )

This is OKAMOTO’S cover of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ monster hit, “Give It Away.” The vocalist’s English pronunciation is excellent, but above all, the guitar tone is strikingly similar to John Frusciante’s! They’re probably using a different wah pedal than the original, but everything else is 100% spot-on.

With this level of faithful reproduction, even hardcore RHCP fans would be fully convinced.

HAPPY BIRTHDAYOKAMOTO’S

The catchiest song by OKAMOTO’S.

The “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” in the chorus has a melody that sticks with everyone, and with the unnecessary distortion and excess notes stripped away, it might be their new form of pop music.

This one is sure to get the crowd going live as well!

A track that re-excavates ska-punk—the hallmark of skinhead culture—through OKAMOTO’S unique sensibilities.

With an arrangement stripped to the bare minimum, it highlights a refined elegance.

The seamless shift from the off-beat to the downbeat shows zero awkwardness, and their technical prowess and ideas are absolutely astounding.
