Michi by EXILE is also famous as a classic graduation song.
Released on February 14, 2007, it is EXILE’s 23rd single.
Set to a beautiful melody, it sings about the preciousness of the irreplaceable time spent with friends.
We all have experiences where encounters with many people have changed us in some way.
There may have been times when we clashed, but this song reminds us that it is precisely because of all those experiences that we are who we are today.
A Selfish Youth DramaGesu no Kiwami Otome.

“Kattena Seishun Geki” is a song by Gesu no Kiwami Otome, included on their 2016 album Daruma Ringo.
The album reached No.
3 on the Oricon Albums Chart.
The lyrics strikingly express the anxiety and dissatisfaction that come from realizing you’ve become an adult and feeling the gap between the future you imagined in your youth and the present.
The band’s sound—packed densely with notes—seems to symbolize that feeling as well.
But in the end, it suggests that once you get used to the gap between past and present, it can lead you toward the future.
Blue BenchSasuke

It’s a song you can’t help but relate to, where the protagonist receives a class reunion invitation and is reminded of the lover they dated back in their student days.
“Aoi Bench” is a track released on April 7, 2004 by Sasuke, a male duo from Saitama Prefecture.
Whether you were the one who left or the one who was left, after a breakup you inevitably look back on the past and feel regret, don’t you? You can tell that the protagonist of this song still carries the thought, “If only I had done things differently back then,” even after time has passed.
We can only move forward, but when you’re struck by the bittersweet memory of an old love, this song will surely stay by your side.
To the futureKiroro

Kiroro’s “Mirai e” is a popular choice for graduation and wedding songs.
Released as a single in 1998, it reached No.
4 on the Oricon Singles Chart.
The song sings of the warmth of a mother’s love and looks back on how the narrator didn’t understand it at the time.
It’s also memorable for lyrics that, from a mother’s perspective, offer guidance along the road leading into the future.
In Brunei and Malaysia, “Mirai e” is well known, reportedly because it has been used as part of Japanese language education.
The scenery I saw at the breakwaterBEGIN

The song that goes, “The friend I hadn’t seen in a long time was just the same as back then,” is BEGIN’s The Scenery I Saw at the Breakwater.
It’s a track included on the 1998 album Tokyo Ocean and was later released as a single.
The song was written by vocalist Eisho Higa while he was staying in New York, as he thought about his hometown of Ishigaki Island.
He likely wrote the lyrics by contrasting the time they spent in Tokyo with their friends back home.
Perhaps influenced by that, Higa later returned to Okinawa, and BEGIN has since continued their creative work split between Tokyo and Okinawa.
366 daysHY

HY, a band from Okinawa, is best known for their song “366 Days.” It was the theme song for the drama “Red Thread,” which was based on a cell phone novel that became hugely popular in the 2000s.
The song portrays the pain of heartbreak with raw honesty.
Even if it can’t be called a happy love story, many listeners likely related to the protagonist’s aching inability to let go of their partner and their wholehearted, straightforward love.
There are people who, no matter how much time passes, still feel like they could burst into tears when they remember a past love.
This song perfectly suits that kind of love.

Kokoro-eroodo obu mejyaa

It portrays the gap between what you imagined and reality very well.
The song unfolds like a story, moving through the past, present, and future of student days.
The lyrics are delivered so directly that they sink straight into your heart.
The high-pitched vocals make it even more approachable and deeply moving.
