[Beloved Dogs and Cats] Tear-Jerking, Heartwarming Pet Songs (41–50)
Home is the best.koorogi satomi

Chi’s Sweet Home is an anime that tells the story of Chi, a kitten separated from her family, and the Yamada family who takes her in.
The opening theme, Ouchi ga Ichiban (Home Is the Best), is sung by Satomi Koorogi, the voice actress for Chi.
It depicts Chi getting lost during a walk, safely finding her way back home, and realizing that home—and family—really are the best.
The lyrics are written entirely in the style of Chi speaking, which makes it incredibly cute! It also makes me feel even more affectionate when I imagine that our own beloved dog and cat might be chatting like this every day, or mulling over all sorts of thoughts in their hearts.
footprint(s)Kobukuro

A song that gently weaves a farewell to a beloved presence.
Looking back on days spent with a cherished dog, it portrays with warmth the traces that presence left on the heart, even as it accepts an eternal parting.
Its acoustic sound and melody offer comfort to the feelings of pet loss—an experience many may face.
Included on Kobukuro’s album “QUARTER CENTURY,” released in September 2024, this piece gives courage to move forward: to carry the sorrow of losing a loved one while never forgetting gratitude for the time shared.
It is a song that will bring deep empathy and healing to those who have lost a precious family member.
KoroCRAZY KEN BAND

Centered around vocalist Ken Yokoyama, this is a soulful song by Crazy Ken Band, active since 1997, about the bond with a pet dog.
In the lyrics, the singer recalls memories with Koro, the dog he lived with in childhood, but listening to the middle section suggests that Koro seems to have run away somewhere…
The first half depicts a close relationship between the boy and his dog, and combined with the melancholic accompaniment, the latter half becomes suffused with a bittersweet mood.
Little LoversSUPER★DRAGON

SUPER★DRAGON delivers the theme song for the heartwarming, kindness-filled TV anime “The Lord and His Dog.” This medium-tempo pop-rock track features a flowing, soothing melody that leaves a lasting impression.
It tenderly weaves feelings for a beloved companion and hopes for the future, beautifully portraying two beings moving forward while supporting each other amid changing times and cityscapes.
The song has been used as the theme for the TV anime “The Lord and His Dog” since October 2024 and is fully produced by Sohei Mishima of cinema staff.
It’s a perfect track not only for dog lovers, but also for moments when you want to feel the bond with someone dear, or when your heart feels a little tired.
Song of the Actor DogSARD UNDERGROUND

A noble and poignant ballad that weaves a sorrow-tinged tale.
Based on the true story of a stray dog who found success as an actor at a film studio, SARD UNDERGROUND portrays it with warmth and compassion.
Centering on a single dog whose fate shifts from stray to performer, the song tenderly sings of the bonds formed with the studio staff and the love he continued to believe in even after being abandoned for human convenience, set to a gentle, heartrending melody.
Released in September 2023, this piece is a track that firmly embodies SARD UNDERGROUND’s musicality and a message of animal welfare.
It is a gem that resonates deeply in the heart when the desire to cherish the ones you love grows strong.
Nyander Wonder DaysOhashi Ayaka

Ayaka Ohashi not only appears in many buzzworthy anime, but also stands out as a voice-actor-artist with exceptional vocal ability.
In May 2021, she successfully held her first arena concert, demonstrating both top-tier popularity and skill among young voice actors.
In BanG Dream!, she shows her multifaceted talent by playing drums as a member of the real-life band.
“Nyander Wonder Days,” a track included on her single “Inu to Neko to Ayaka,” released in January 2021, is a song that any pet owner will undoubtedly relate to.
It’s an upbeat, cheerful pop tune very characteristic of Ohashi, with wonderfully heartwarming lyrics by mihimaru GT’s mitsuyuki miyake that sing of lovable days spent with pets.
As it served as the theme song for the anime adaptation of manga artist Hidekichi Matsumoto’s hugely popular series “With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun,” some people may have discovered Ohashi through this song.
As an aside, it’s worth noting that Ohashi starred in the anime adaptation of Matsumoto’s signature work “Sabagebu!,” where she also performed the theme song and made her debut as an artist, which gives the two a special connection.
I am a dog.Matsumoto Gōsei

This is “Wagahai wa, Inu,” the song that plays in the background of NHK E-Tele’s 0655 segment where they introduce beloved dogs and cats.
For any family, pets are irreplaceable members, aren’t they? Sometimes you find yourself wondering, “Since we can’t communicate with words, what is our little one thinking?” When you listen to this song and imagine they might be thinking like this, it really warms your heart.
There are other versions too, so try looking for them!
