BGM from past Pokémon series: A compilation of legendary tracks (1–10)

Battle! Cynthia

Pokémon BW BGM: "Battle! Cynthia"
Battle! Cynthia

Cynthia is a character who first appeared in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

There’s a rumor that she was inspired by Maetel, isn’t there? Here’s one track from the battle against Cynthia.

It’s a battle theme that’s popular among fans and fits her image perfectly.

Showdown! Dialga!

Showdown! Dialga!

A track that boasts overwhelming popularity among fans! This is the BGM that plays during the battle with Dark Dialga, the final boss of the sequels to Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team—namely Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness—as well as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky.

Battle! Red

[Pokémon SS/HG] Red Battle BGM [3-Hour Loop]
Battle! Red

This is the BGM for the final battle against Red at the summit of Mt.

Silver.

It’s also used for the Champion Lance battle in “Bug – Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.” The sense of urgency befitting a battle theme comes through right from the intro.

It’s a BGM worthy of being called a masterpiece.

Victory is right in front of you!

This is the BGM that plays near the end of Gym Leader battles in Pokémon Black and White and their sequels, Black 2 and White 2, in the Unova region.

It kicks in when the opponent is down to their last Pokémon, so hearing this track probably gives many players that extra push to hang in there, doesn’t it?

Final Battle (Rival Fight)

Pokémon Red and Green — Final Battle (Rival Battle) BGM
Final Battle (Rival Fight)

A track from Pokémon Red and Green, released in 1996.

I imagine many people find it nostalgic.

The sound uses layered single tones with different timbres, so those used to recent BGM might find it monotonous, but I think it’s a god-tier BGM that expresses tension brilliantly.

Battle! Champion Iris

The BGM that plays during the battle against Champion Iris in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.

Composed and arranged by Hitomi Sato, it’s a popular track among fans, affectionately known as the “Lead Hydreigon Theme.”

Decisive Battle! N

Junichi Masuda, Director of Development and a board member at Game Freak Inc., wrote on his blog that the name “N” comes from the word ‘Natural number.’ The piece was created around the theme of “natural numbers greater than 1,” with a focus on prime numbers.

Middle C on the keyboard is treated as 0.

It’s a unique battle theme composed within a complex yet conceptual framework of music theory.
