The Boy Is Mine (duet with Monica)Brandy

Emerging in the mid-1990s, Brandy revolutionized R&B vocal styles with layered choral work and delicate expressiveness.
She’s also an accomplished actress—an icon who defined an era with her multifaceted talent.
Widely regarded as her magnum opus, Never Say Never is her second album, where her partnership with Rodney Jerkins forged a refined sound.
In particular, her duet with Monica, “The Boy Is Mine,” dominated the U.S.
charts for an extended period and won a Grammy, becoming a cultural phenomenon.
It’s an exquisite record where crisp beats intertwine with a sweet vocal tone to create a superb groove.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience the golden age of ’90s R&B.
Yeah! ( ft. Lil Jon, Ludacris)Usher

Usher, a pivotal figure in the R&B scene with worldwide success.
Showcasing his multifaceted talents in singing, dance, and acting, he has long continued to lead the entertainment world.
The album often hailed as the crowning achievement of his career is Confessions.
Released in 2004, it posted explosive sales around the globe and even achieved diamond certification, making it a landmark work.
As the title suggests, this album centers on the theme of “confession,” distilling his appeal into everything from sweet ballads to up-tempo dance tracks.
Raw, personal lyrics that seem to reflect his private life blend seamlessly with a diverse sound crafted by a star-studded production team, resulting in an extraordinarily polished work.
If you want to feel the heat of 2000s R&B, be sure to check it out.
Water Runs DryBoyz II Men

Boyz II Men are a vocal group that has gained popularity for their exceptionally high-level vocal technique and catchy R&B sound.
They’ve appeared on Japanese media several times, so many people in Japan have probably heard their songs at least once.
Their classic album “II,” released in 1994, includes their hit songs “On Bended Knee” and “I’ll Make Love to You.” This time, I introduced one of my top recommendations from that album: “Water Runs Dry.”
CreepTLC

TLC raced through the ’90s, overcoming numerous troubles and tragedies, and continue to perform today as a duo.
Their achievements as the legendary trio who made a spectacular debut in their teens can’t be summed up in a short paragraph, but this time I’d like to spotlight the timeless masterpiece CrazySexyCool, released in 1994—a work indispensable to any discussion of ’90s R&B and one that profoundly influenced the groups and artists who followed.
Featuring massive hits like Creep and Waterfalls and boasting sales of over 12 million copies, the album marked a shift from their energetic debut to a sophisticated sound with an adult aura, capturing the essence of ’90s hip-hop soul and R&B as perfectly as anything could.
Its female-centered lyrics are multifaceted and still worth exploring today, and I hope you’ll take the time to experience the album in the context of the culture of the era as well.

Her acclaimed masterpiece, Ella Mai, is her debut studio album and includes her hit songs Boo’d Up and Trip.
