Popular Fireworks Song Rankings [2026]

We’ve compiled a ranking of songs all about fireworks—tracks whose titles are literally “fireworks,” songs themed around fireworks, and songs whose lyrics mention fireworks.

It might be fun to compare how popular artists portray this quintessential symbol of summer in Japan.

The reading is “Natsuno Ne.” It’s an unconventional vocal group song by GReeeeN, whose members are all dentists as well as artists.

It was released as a digital single in 2015 and is included on the best album “C, D Desu to!?” Unusually for a GReeeeN track, the song features many melodic turns that evoke a distinctly Japanese (“wa”) feel.

By likening feelings to fireworks and deftly weaving in the “sound” of fireworks and their inherently fleeting, fire-born nature, it poignantly expresses the heartache of unrequited love.

Perhaps the most famous Western song themed around fireworks is this one, “Firework.” Released in 2010, it’s a track by the globally popular Katy Perry.

Many of her works are powerful and encouraging to listeners, and that distinctive quality shines through in “Firework” as well.

The lyrics carry a positive message to those who can’t quite take the next step, telling them it’s enough to light a spark and shine like a firework.

summer festivalWhiteberry17rank/position

When you think of summer, many people probably think of this song! With its distinctive vocals and straightforward lyrics, it’s a track loved across generations.

It tells the story of a bittersweet love: on a certain summer day at a festival with someone you like, you look for the right moment to confess, but end up making only small talk and never manage to say “I like you.” You can feel the sweet-and-sour, true-to-life youth of the group, who debuted when they were in junior high.

The way the story unfolds with a pleasant sense of speed is also part of its charm.

Released in 2001 as the third single by the girl group ZONE, it became a major hit.

Since the members actually performed the instruments on this track, you could even call them a girl band.

The song has been covered by many artists, including SCANDAL and Silent Siren, and although it originally came out in 2001, it can be said to be a song that has been loved for a long time.

Did the two meet again in August ten years later? It makes you want to listen to an answer song that continues the story.

aiko - “Hanabi” music video

This is the song by aiko, a singer-songwriter from Osaka, that marked her breakthrough and made her widely known as a nationwide artist.

It led to more TV appearances, and I distinctly remember thinking how petite she is.

The perspective of watching fireworks from above—actually looking down on them while hanging from a constellation—is strikingly fresh.

Aiko is known for her inventive approaches to melody lines and chord progressions, and her talent shines through in this track as well.

The piano and production are handled by Masanori Shimada, who has created many hit songs in collaboration with aiko.

Red fireworksback number20rank/position

Akai Hanabi is a song that embodies back number’s signature world view, known for lyrics from a woman’s perspective.

Included on their 2023 album Humor, it portrays the feelings of a woman who goes to see fireworks with her boyfriend only to be dumped right before they start.

The song had already been performed in advance during the fan club–exclusive tour held in 2021, so its long-awaited official release became a hot topic among fans.

It’s a mid-tempo guitar rock number, and its heartrending melody is just as compelling as the lyrics.

A song released in 2015 that was also featured in a Coca-Cola commercial.

The cover art uses imagery from Aomori’s iconic summer festival, the Nebuta Matsuri, and the lyrics evoke a strong sense of summer.

They depict the clamor of summer festivals, the lively energy of people in yukata, fireworks lighting up the night, and the protagonist’s heart blazing in response to it all—portraying memories of summer that pass in a flash like fireworks yet remain unforgettable.

It’s a track that makes you want to create a summer memory of your own!
