The song “BIG TREE,” included on their 14th album TREE and used in a Panasonic commercial, was created with the intention of becoming the core of the album.

Its grand, dreamlike sound and dramatic lyrics generate a sweeping sense of scale that draws you into its world.

Although the melody features many leaps and can be easy to go off-pitch, the relaxed tempo makes it approachable if you sing in a key that suits your voice.

It’s a delicate yet powerful number, with an evocative ensemble that overwhelms the senses.

CHAGE and ASKA’s debut song is a gem of a ballad that portrays the end of a romance and a new beginning.

Its heartrending lyrics and beautiful melody resonate deeply, stirring the listener’s heart.

Released in August 1979, the track gained attention after being performed at Popcon.

The 20th single, “Koibito wa Wine-iro” (“My Lover Is Wine-Colored”), was released as an advance single from the 10th album, RHAPSODY.

It was issued as a double A-side with “Akirame no Blue Day” and was used as the theme song for the TV drama Abunai Zakkyo Couple.

With its relaxed melody and tempo and a relatively narrow vocal range, it’s also recommended for karaoke.

If the key feels too high, adjust it to suit your voice; since there aren’t any big interval jumps, it becomes easier to sing, so give it a try.

CHAGE & ASKA’s classic song, “Final Chapter (Epilogue).” This piece was composed by CHAGE.

Compared to ASKA’s compositions, CHAGE’s tend to be more catchy, featuring singable vocal lines.

In this song, the vocal line is lyrically expressive and filled with poignancy, yet the overall structure is very simple.

There aren’t dramatic leaps in pitch, and the range isn’t particularly wide, making it an easy song to sing.

Give it a try.

This is the song that was used as the jingle for Subaru’s kei car VIVIO, which was sold in the 1990s.

Besides Subaru’s commercial, it was also featured in a Toyota Sprinter Carib ad.

Released in 1990, the track is memorable for the fresh, back-and-forth vocals by the duo CHAGE and ASKA.

The lyrics depict a story in which a rival in love appears, harboring feelings for the protagonist’s partner, creating a sense of impatience and frustration for the listener.

Chage and Aska have unfortunately ended up in a disappointing situation now, but around that year they were the best-selling artists, I think.

Every song they released became a huge hit, and you could say they were truly the darlings of the era.

For their fans, these are surely happy memories.
