Sakurako Ohara – Hitomi (Music Video Short ver.)
pupilŌhara Sakurako

This is a renowned song by Sakurako Ohara released in 2015, which was also chosen as a support song for the National High School Soccer Championship.

With this song, Ohara made her first appearance on the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen.

It’s an uplifting anthem featuring straightforward lyrics and a gentle melody, highlighted by Ohara’s clear yet powerful vocals.

Singing the latest hits can show you’re on trend, but classic anthems are still essential for getting the crowd going at karaoke.

That’s why we recommend “Hai Yorokonde.” It’s often seen as high and difficult, but that’s only if you try to replicate the falsetto in the chorus; the highest chest note is mid2 F#, which isn’t particularly high.

The song is guaranteed to hype up the room, but since it has many rapid-fire lyrics, make sure you identify your breathing spots in advance.

“Silhouette” is a song by KANA-BOON and their fifth major-label single, released on November 26, 2014.

I don’t think you need exceptionally high vocal skills to sing KANA-BOON’s songs, but for many people the sticking point might be their distinctive, slightly high-pitched vocal tone.

As long as you can handle that, the melody itself isn’t particularly difficult, so I think it’s a selection that should be easy for almost anyone to sing.

If you sing it in the original key, pay attention to the high notes—especially the transitions between chest voice and falsetto.

Listen closely to the original, study where and how different vocal techniques are used, and then try singing it.

If you’re not confident, you should be fine lowering the key!

CUTIE STREET, the idol group that’s all the rage right now.

They’re not just popular with men—many women are fans too—so I think a lot of high schoolers know them.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is “Is Being Cute Not Enough?”.

Thanks in part to its huge popularity on TikTok, the pre-chorus hook line and the chorus melody are incredibly addictive.

The highest note is a slightly high hi D#, but since it only appears in the final chorus, as long as you set the key with that section in mind, it shouldn’t be difficult to sing overall.

Hide-and-seekYuuri47rank/position

Contrary to what you might expect, Kakurenbo actually has a fairly narrow vocal range; it’s sung gently between E3 and F#4.

It’s popular across generations, and many of my students chose to sing it! Since it’s a song where it’s easy to add dynamics, it should be relatively straightforward to pick up extra points for expressiveness.

In the A verse, keep the volume restrained and gentle; in the B verse, some higher notes appear, so focus on the rhythm and make sure to hit the pitch bar accurately.

The C section in the latter half is where the most emotion comes through, so it’s okay to sing with more volume than you think.

A surprisingly tricky part is the quiet section of the final chorus.

After the big build-up in the C section, the chorus enters with restrained emotion, so if you reset your feelings right before the chorus and create a clear break, you’ll be able to sing more calmly and stay on pitch more easily.

silentSEKAI NO OWARI48rank/position

A Christmas song that portrays a bittersweet longing echoing through a quiet snowy night.

Released in December 2020, the track was chosen as the theme song for the TBS drama “Kono Koi Atatamemasu ka.” In a soundless world where pure white snow falls, the feelings of thinking about someone precious are beautifully expressed.

Moments of facing oneself in silence and scenes of recalling a lost love resonate deeply.

The song has captivated many listeners, surpassing 100 million streams.

It’s the perfect track for a Christmas night when you can’t be with someone important and feel lonely.

Try singing it at karaoke and let your feelings be heard.

The artist Yukopi, who gained nationwide popularity with “Kyōfū All Back,” is back with another hit: “Neoki Yashinoki (feat.

Kaai Yuki).” If you’re a high school student, you’ve probably heard it at least once.

Like the previous work, this song is crafted with a comedic touch, and the vocal lines are kept simple overall.

Even if you can’t hit high notes, you can sing it without any trouble—so give it a try.

It’s sure to get everyone hyped at karaoke!
