King Gnu Popular Song Ranking [2026]

King Gnu is a cutting-edge band that forges ahead with a unique mixture style, crossing over a variety of musical backbones.

All their tracks are cool, with a sense of groove even as they carry a somewhat melancholic, dark atmosphere!

Their signature song “Hakujitsu” is probably the most well-known, but of course their other tracks are highly recommended too!

In this article, we’ll introduce their popular songs one by one in a ranking format.

This is a must-see ranking for anyone about to start listening to King Gnu.

King Gnu’s vocals are primarily handled by Satoru Iguchi, but there are songs where Daiki Tsuneta takes the lead.

One of those is Danjo.

While many of their other tracks feature Iguchi as a co-lead in a twin-vocal setup, this song puts Tsuneta in the spotlight as the lead vocalist.

The melody is somewhat complex, but because the song’s structure is quite orthodox compared to their other works, it should be relatively easy to sing.

Be sure to check it out.

If you want to sing King Gnu’s songs, you probably already have a decent level of vocal ability.

Among you, many might be confident in your high notes, right? For those people, I recommend Bedtown.

Since the song features a lot of low-range falsetto, it should be very singable for those who are good at falsetto.

If falsetto isn’t your strong suit, there are many parts that are intentionally sung in falsetto even though they’re within chest-voice range, so feel free to try singing those parts in chest voice instead.

Included on the 2019 release Inoue Yosui Tribute Album, “Kazarijanai no yo Namida wa” as sung by King Gnu.

While it’s also one of Akina Nakamori’s signature songs, originally released in 1984, hearing King Gnu’s version gives it a completely different vibe—and you can really feel the allure of a male vocal.

Since many artists have covered it, it’s widely known across generations, which also makes it an easy pick.

Having a man sing it adds a certain depth and maturity, offering a charm distinct from versions sung by women.

King Gnu’s iconic track “Anata wa Shinkirou” stands out for its electronic textures.

It features a decadent vocal line and lyrics, with heavily processed vocals.

The most singable aspect of the piece is that the vocal line stays in the low to mid range.

The high parts of the chorus are generally handled by backing vocals, so you don’t need to belt to sing it.

However, the key changes in the chorus can be a bit tricky, so it’s worth practicing repeatedly to get comfortable with the modulation.

When you think of King Gnu, flashy and complex melodies are striking, but there are also songs with unconventional yet simple and gentle melodies reminiscent of Yura Yura Teikoku.

“Haretsu” is one such piece.

From the beginning through the middle, it maintains a quiet melody, then gradually raises the voltage partway through.

Even so, its calm and ennui-like impression remains unchanged.

While falsetto appears—bringing a certain difficulty—it doesn’t require vocal techniques like breath control or long sustained notes.

[High-Quality Audio · Latest] IKAROS – King Gnu [Japanese Subtitles/Lyric Video]
IKAROSKing Gnu

IKAROS by King Gnu, a song driven by an indie-style melody that sparked a boom from 2022 to 2023.

While its very relaxed tempo and expansive falsetto and mixed voice are striking, the truly challenging aspect of this piece actually lies in the low notes.

The highest note is hi C#—not extraordinarily high—but partway through the song, low-note phrases suddenly appear.

The lowest note there is low C#, which is quite difficult even for the average male singer, so it’s fair to say this song ranks at S-class difficulty.
