MUCC Popular Songs Ranking [2026]

The Japanese band MUCC has showcased a transition from nu metal to metalcore, and then to disco.

Their sound is so diverse that it can’t be simply grouped under so-called “visual kei.” This time, we’re unveiling a ranking of their most popular songs.

Which track is your favorite?

A Painful LetterMUCC11rank/position

Itai Tegami (Album version)-MUCC
A Painful LetterMUCC

MUCC’s “Itai Tegami” is a classic stalker song that gives you chills from the very first moment.

There aren’t any explicitly scary words in the lyrics, but that’s exactly what makes it frightening—the fear creeps up on you.

The dark melody line amplifies that unease.

You can feel the emotion of “because I love you,” but its one-sided, overly straightforward intensity comes off as madness—a quintessential stalker song.

FuzzMUCC12rank/position

This is their 17th single, released in 2007.

It’s a track characterized by electronic sounds and a four-on-the-floor beat.

In the music video, green lighting repeatedly shines, which, combined with the electronic tones, creates a near-futuristic atmosphere.

The lyrics depict a couple on the verge of breaking up.

LibraMUCC13rank/position

This is their 15th single, released in 2007.

The dynamics are sharply defined, highlighting the darker elements and giving it a menacing edge.

In contrast, the chorus feels extremely open and liberating—truly a perfect embodiment of “angel and devil.”

There are plenty of people who keep hiding themselves and never speak their true feelings, but these lyrics aren’t that simple.

They portray something stranger: being unable to endure the fabricated persona they’ve maintained, they go on to create yet another self.

I get the sense that many artistic types are like this, but in the end, it’s all still you.

Shofu (Original Version)-MUCC
prostituteMUCC

This is their first single, released in 2000.

It’s a track that already shines from their debut.

In the middle, the song dramatically shifts its tone and reveals a different side.

It was also re-recorded for the first album “Tsuuzetsu” and the 14th single “Horizont.”

MUCC – [Prostitute/Decay] -2. Decay

MUCC is a band formed in 1997.

They made their major-label debut in 2003 and have been active enough to perform live in countries around the world.

Their debut from an indie label was the 2000 single “Shōfu / Hai.” The video here is for “Hai.” The title might suggest something of a dark, brooding song, but the intro melody is beautiful, and the following sound has clear dynamics, making it an easy track to listen to.

The last trainMUCC17rank/position

A single released in 2005.

The song is said to have been created based on MUCC’s concept of “returning to their roots.” It was used as the opening theme for TV Tokyo’s “LIVE BANG!” in October, and the cool music video directed by Ryuji Seki★ is also worth noting.

meteorMUCC18rank/position

Mook – Shooting Star
meteorMUCC

The 12th single, released in 2006.

Unlike the other songs, it features a rap part and is a very distinctive track.

However, the melody line is very easy to listen to, making it quite an interesting song.

It feels like it could really grab hold of our hearts.

Sky and ThreadMUCC19rank/position

It’s the 19th single, released in 2009.

The word “rain” appears repeatedly, and the song is filled with dark, negative emotions.

The brisk tempo and recurring guitar phrases might be conveying a message about a boring daily life where every day is the same.

Mermaid of ReminiscenceMUCC20rank/position

MUCC – Reminiscence Mermaid (Tsuioku no Mermaid) THE YELLOW MONKEY TRIBUTE
Mermaid of ReminiscenceMUCC

MUCC covered THE YELLOW MONKEY’s “Tsuioku no Mermaid.” Before THE YELLOW MONKEY reunited, a tribute album was released, and MUCC covered this song on it.

It seems they basically chose the songs they wanted to perform from the band’s catalog.
